If you don't have passion or particular FS skills or experience, you're right to stay away. We're in a serious correction right now. I don't think they're done with the cuts.
Do it OP, the west coast is awesome and has great opportunities. If you are a high performer there is no concern, if you want to coast then maybe another firm. I think P1 just makes friends with the 4s and 5s. Every firm, every year, the lowest performing ones will be purged.
Was told today everyone on the bench will be scrutinized... Look out for layoffs!
I've worked with lots of people from CIPS in LA and NY that all "left" the firm.
I know a person in TICE in LA and she's loving it. From what I usneryand there's a lot of crossover between TICE/CIPS so you should be good. Winter 2018 is very far away and a lot can change between now and then. I wouldn't let the posts above you scare you. Also, as someone who interned in FS and hated the work: switch out if you can! I was miserable in FS and can't imagine staying there. I moved over to HIA 😏
I think honestly FS is the vertical that's undergoing the hardest layoffs. They were overstaffed and couldn't justify it. They missed their revenue goals by a larger margin than the other verticals (HIA, CIPS, TICE). In my experience in HIA, not that many folks were let go/there's not a huge sense of paranoia. Agree with PwC4 - all low performers get let go, that's nothing new.
Again, 2018 is very far away, don't let the current environment scare you. Focus on what you thought of the people, overall culture, and the type of work you will be doing. If PwC meets your criteria then great! If not, also great - there are other equally great companies to work for.

@P1 are you in CIPS based out of LA? Feel like I've heard every vertical hasn't been doing well/experiencing layoffs...don't even know if I should accept this offer
Don't. CIPS has seen big layoffs and it's VERY tumultuous right now. They are laying off new grads for "performance". Save yourself and go elsewhere
Do you have any experience with FS other thanks the internship? You need to pick the place where you can best differentiate yourself as someone who has some expertise or skills others don't. CIPS usually isn't that place.
@Unsanctioned well ultimately trying to get into a cross LOS group for sustainability consulting but they aren't accepting campus hires now. I have a dual business/engineering background. FS was not anything I was interested/passionate about
Come to FS!
@pwc1 did they recently leave or you mean over a long period of time?
All "left" around CRT time.
@P3 thanks for the encouragement! Definitely am in a conflicted situation deciding if I should take the offer or interview with other firms after hearing so many cuts across the board. Wish they would've placed me in CIPS in the first place for internship.
