For the soon to be mums, have you run into the situation when doing all the blood test during pregnancy, some items now are no longer covered by Aetna? Not even the advanced test, even some medically necessary one prescribed by the doctor are out of pocket now?

Hi all! New to fishbowl and looking for some advice! I currently have 2 bachelors degrees and a Masters in Health Sciences. I have 7 years of inpatient healthcare experience and have started as a Data coordinator in solid tumor cancer research about 3 months ago. I get paid around $20/hr and am highly overqualified for basic data entry. However through out this process I’ve realized I love the science of what I do and want to possibly be a clinical scientist. Path/job suggestions?

My therapist of 3+ years just told me that she’s going to stop taking insurance starting in January and her new rate will be $160 per session (right now I pay $45 for our weekly sessions). My insurance will not cover any of it.

I’m panicking. I struggle with depression and anxiety and my weekly sessions are what keeps me going (and meds!). I also love my therapist and she knows everything about me. I don’t want to start over but I also don’t know if I can afford $160 per session… what do I do?

I work in accounting for an insurance brokerage firm. I put in my 2 weeks notice today and was told by my manager that they may ask me to not work the next 2 weeks (with pay) since I’m going to a competitor. Has anyone ever experienced this? Is this the norm?

Technically, if you are rich enough, isn’t self-insurance the best option? Insurance companies have to make money by taking in more in premiums than paying out in claims, so on average the customer is losing money and has a negative (albeit stable) NPV on their insurance money. But if you had enough money to tolerate the risk of a unexpectedly high expense, wouldn’t it be better to not pay for the insurance?

Best office chair for pregnancy? My ikea chair is not cutting it. I have a standing desk at home so bonus points if it works well with that. Help ! My 15 MO eats bare minimum in daycare and wakes up at night very 2 to 3 hours with hunger. I initially thought regression but it’s been 2 months and not improving. If I give him water he screams bloody murder until I give him milk in a bottle. On weekends he eats well and sleeps almost 8 hours straight with waking up once. I tried controlled CIO, sleep in bed together and every possible thing but nothing works. Daycare tells they try their best but he doesn’t eat.

My almost 3 year old loves his crib. It’s pretty a apparent that it makes him feel safe at night. I stupidly did not buy a crib that coverts to a toddler bed and he has no interest in sleeping in his big boy bed. We also need to potty train him..
