For the women in Chicago. Are there any cool spots you feel comfortable going on your own? Broke up during Covid and I realize I never go to bars or restaurants any more because I’m so used to not being on my own. I can drag friends with me but damnit I’m an adult. lol. And not to meet anyone. I just want a place to drink that isn’t my living room couch.

Not a woman but check out Delilah’s or old town ale house. Mom’s place is good too. You need a divey spot

Not a woman so feel free to ignore, but I’m a huge fan of Golden Dagger: low-key music and indie clientele. I’ve gone a lot on my own and seen single women there who seem to be left alone (hitting on them has never been my goal)

No suggestions but wife and I are looking for new friends if you dont want to drink alone

Saved for the recommendations. Btw city winery, Cyndi’s , London house bar and many swanky hotel bars are great. Plus you get to meet out of town people while chillaxing in your City

I think you can go just about anywhere with a few tricks and the right attitude. I'll bring a book to make it clear that I'm not looking to talk. Sit by the beer taps so the bartender passes by often and you can always say something to them. Wine bars in general tend to have more of a sit and not be bothered atmosphere. I've grabbed drinks by myself at a lot of places and I've honestly rarely had anyone go out of their way to chat or flirt -- most bar pick ups happen at scene-y bars on weekends when surrounded by big drunk groups of friends.

like

Also, prob unnecessary, but I have a friend who wears a fake engagement ring when she's working and traveling abroad solo. Think it matters more in countries with more aggressive pickup culture, but see no harm in doing it here if it would make you feel better.

That’s precisely what I m planning to do now; came here out to checkout suggestions for spots to get a drink!

Neon Wilderness in Wicker Park. It’s pretty chill, at least during the week. You can sit at the bar and the bartenders are nice and will look out for you.

The bar at Joe’s Seafood. One of my girlfriends goes there all the time by herself and I’ve met her there a few times. Great spot for a drink after work and the bar is always crowded (at least it was pre-COVID). I’ve always found the crowd and bartender to be super friendly and talkative if you’re looking for that. Also, I know it’s not your goal, but I swear she always meets new guys there. For context, we are mid-30s and mid-40s.

like

The bar at rpm steak was really fun pre covid especially on week nights where it wasn’t just packed. The bartender would be really generous with the comps too. Also not sure if this is your scene, but the bar at rock bottom is always really fun as well. Lots of out of town people so it’s kind of fun to chat with folks.

Grab a couple gay guys to go w you - best folk to keep away the others (& you’ll likely have a great eve w them, lol) … suggesting for a friend 😉

The West Loop has tons of places and you can walk without much worry.

All Together Now is a casual wine slash cheese spot where I’ve gone to read and work - woman-owned too!

Lux bar!! The bartenders are the best. Message me if you end up going, I’ll introduce you to some of them!

Now I want to start giving interviews and get back in the game. My concern is with 2 things here 1. I lack confidence/motivation due to the gap. 2. How do I address this in resume ?

Got covid from the UK , double vaxxed , and symptoms are wildly atrocious. Everyday I have different issues. I went from no fever to 102.4 in a couple of minutes. Blood oxygen dropped dangerously low and bounced back in a few minutes. Chills , cold sweats. My newest one is that my legs are so achey and sore it feels like they were beaten with a bat , just nonstop pain and can’t sleep. Anyone else experience these? Pretty sure I’d be hospitalized at a minimum without the vax

From talking to students at multiple M7 schools, it seems like all of the BB/MBB/FAANG companies recruit at most if not all of the schools . So if you're planning on recruiting for one of these, is there really a major difference in career opportunities between each school? Asking because it seems like some schools are specifically known for finance vs consulting vs tech, but if the companies are all recruiting at all these schools, the differences don't seem as pronounced to me.
