I switched to tech and became a software engineer
KPMG1 - no, I haven’t and I don’t think I’ll have time to! Sounds like a great class though, I wish I’d had room to take it
I left consulting and started my own software company, no outside funding and im collecting over 20k a month in profit while still scaling
What skills do you need for this? Looking to learn more about this, thanks for sharing!
Most of the time it's accomplished by lying about their salaries to strangers on fishbowl for some odd reason.
* Me an engineering consultant working 60+h looking at these salaries like🥲
I make ~80k after masters and 2YOE (and this is like on higher end of what you’d get in engineering).
More hours, responsibilities, liabilities!
Looking to use my skills and transition into consulting or tech.
After reading this post
I’m $160k TC in a tech firm (non FAANG) at 25. Hours are 9-5. Switching firms can get you there relatively easily but you need to grind somewhere else first.
EYP2 - Are you open to chat via DM?
26, base 175, tc 250, went to FAANG for DS.

My single biggest piece of advice for landing the interview is to get FAANG/tech clients and build your network in tech. If you don’t have the cookie cutter comp sci -> tech swe -> data science profile, getting a FAANG Data Science interview cold is virtually impossible.
Big tech, MBB, finance (IB/PE/HF), etc.
@D9 all in TC for post MBA strategy consultant at ACN is ~200k year 1, we have 155k base, 30k sign on, up to 20k perf bonus
Mentor
1) In consulting, MBB/T2 if you join out of undergrad at progress decently
2) Select finance fields - IB, PE, some hedge funds, quant positions, etc.
3) Corporate law in a major city straight out of law school
4) A wide variety of big tech companies in roles like software, product management, etc.
Those are the main professional paths (I'm probably missing some)
Not that hard tbh,you can make 200 at BCG at 24 if you get start out of undergrad
Job titles at bcg: Associate > consultant > project leader > principal > partner > managing director & partner
Associate is post undergrad. Consultant is post mba. Project leader is the first time you manage people (associates & consultants)
26 and make 150 TC at Accenture. It’s possible if you are good at what you do and have the right people surrounding you
Ok what city tho

My brother’s friend works at a tech company making $320 TC. He’s 22. It’s mind boggling.

There are some hedge / quant funds where you can make half a million in your first year (all cash - due to bonuses).

Software or Petroleum Engineering
you do if you’re rated distinctive or very strong
Niche consulting firms too
This is very feasible at OW
150K in LCOL, working 10-4 most days. Kicked ass for the first year, got put on a fast trajectory and have been maintaining the image. All about framing your brand early on
One thing I will say - don’t assume that the only high paying industry exits are tech/pevc. Sometimes “no name” companies will pay you very well. 26, 300k TC
What company? Please share. For all of us.
150 TC, 200 TC next year, 25
Are you in AWS services?
PE, 310 all in, 2 years post undergrad
@accenture4 I’ve never seen an associate at UMM from d or Acc but let me know if you have
195k @ 26 - erp consulting
Highly doubt 195 at 26 in ERP unless you’re including 401k benefits and healthcare
