Where is it? 10mins to downtown from Central square is much different from 10mins to downtown from Revere 😅 that doesn’t sound terrible, the fact that you have W/D in unit AND air conditioning is huge in Boston. You could do much worse than that up there 💁🏻♀️
As others said, washer/dryer and AC are extremely rare in a Boston apartment. You have to pay for amenities like that, plus they usually only come in new/luxury buildings, which are more expensive. For reference, I pay $1575 for a spacious one bedroom, but it has laundry in the building rather than in-unit and a window AC rather than central air. Also, driving downtown is really frustrating and expensive; I brought my car from Atlanta but do not use it to commute.
This is slightly on an expensive side probably due to amenities, although expect to pay around $1500 for private room around downtown.

I haven’t been to Boston before so enlighten me please. The apartment is In Cambridge. What is the best deal $$ for a 2/2 and 1/1 closest to downtown since that’s where my job is with w/d and AC. I am coming from Austin so amenities are non negotiable for me
10mins walk isn’t bad! That’s what I’d aim for. I worked in the Fed building at south station and lived in a old apartment in an old house with 2 roommates (3br1ba). 1 mile walk from Davis square station, then it was ~40 min train ride. I was paying $1125 a month. Boston is really a culture shock for cost of living/rent, I’m sorry in advance. It’s not fun, but the city is fun so you don’t need to spend as much time at home 🙂 I’d think twice about driving into Boston, traffic is really terrible because the city is so condensed and parking is really expensive ($30 a day) if your company doesn’t pay for it. And studio vs 2/2 is up to you and your interests! It’s fun to live with other people if you don’t know anyone in the city and with things opening up, you may appreciate having a roommate to go hang out with if you aren’t outgoing and okay with finding your own friend group

What do you guys think about living in cities outside Boston like Brighton etc and commuting to downtown for work say 40-50mins train
Brighton is part of Boston, not a separate city, but yes I know quite a few people who do that. Just depends on your tolerance for commuting, keeping in mind that you aren’t driving so you can pass the time reading, listening to something, etc. Allston/Brighton has tons of students and young professionals and it’s relatively easy to get into the city if you’re close to the train. What part of Boston specifically are you commuting to? That can make a difference in terms of convenient neighborhoods.
