For those in industry, do you have set raises each year like we do in public? Genuinely curious how it works in industry. Are bonuses better? Do you get the standard 3% each year to base?

Depends at which level you are making the switch. For me, it was a factor but not the main factor as my base was pretty decent at firm.

When I worked in industry it was about 2.5 - 3.5% increase per year even though I was leaps and bounds higher performing than my closest peers, but the bonus was actually a bonus at about 15% even though I was at like a senior equivalent level role. The raise was basically a cost of living adjustment and the only time your purchasing power actually increased was if you got promoted which happens wayyyyyyyyy less frequently than PA

Most I got in industry was 8% (and that was crazy over-performing-probably working harder than I am now in PA). Usually it’s 5% if you are a top employee (back off speaking). PA is in a whole diff ballpark.... grass is not always greener, just a different shade.

In an accounting role, raises aren’t great. I’m in an internal audit role in industry and the raises/bonuses have been unbelievably fantastic.
