I'm not specialized. I'd rather know the basics of ten things than 1 thing super in depth.
How does that look when you’re applying for jobs, how do you choose the teams you want to work for, or do you just apply as a generalist and let the company handle that?
Being a full stack dev will open many things for you as you will know the entire lifecycle of the app. - front end - backend - Database - devops (CICD) - infrastructure and platform Now, I’m well versed to go anywhere in software engineering except for ML and AI. I can continue to incorporate ML and AI into my software tool belt by creating a small feature that will use ML based on user feedback. You will always be needed as long as you are continuing to learn and be curious.
2 YOE in full stack will not provide you depth, but the subsequent years after that will give you depth. I’ve been doing 8 years and I feel like I have the depth but I am also learning about new things while having deeper knowledge on the things I already know. I would also recommend jumping to new teams or companies as they have their own architecture design and you can see how they do it. I’ve been in enterprise tech as as well startup tech.
