For those in the public or state sector, what are your monthly premiums and other benefits? I am hoping to make a job change but for the past 7 years it’s been hard because my city pays well and has great benefits (I know poor me), but I am craving growth which I do not have here. I’m trying to get an idea of what it would be like financially to make a move (I realize this will vary widely). We’re done having kids so parental leave and other related benefits aren’t as much interest. Thank you!

Health and Dental insurance is about $300 for a family of 4. Then there’s the required 3% for your portion of your pension. And if you have an IRS COVERED plan then there’s that. And by the time you are finished with taxes….you are living check to check.

like

Right- it’s crazy how much you’re left with after all that’s taken out. 💸💸 Thank you for your insight!

Btw….paid leave should ALWAYS be of interest! You will always need a break. Plus, they pay out when you terminate.

like

Yeah they are great here about that. I’m up to like 8 weeks incl. PTO and comp time after 10 years. But my job itself is not flexible and there’s maybe 0.05% growth. We don’t even see our customers anymore since COViD. I feel bad complaining about too much though.

i'm paying less than $100 for myself and kids. If it was just myself, i think it would be like $20 a month. They give us $17 a month to use towards gym membership. We pay 6% of gross into retirement. My salary was raised after 6 months to cover this cost. 2 weeks vaca, holidays off, plus an additional 3 floating days per yer.

I’ve looked at everyone on the team with the same titles salary on the sunshine list and the lowest I see is 121k. I assume there is an OT component of some sort but also can’t confirm. Hi All, I was offered a role with Aecoms San Francisco office working with an energy client for a midlevel associate environmental planner. I wanted to gauge what is a general salary that ones been offered on this team. I felt lowballed at $79k/annual, initially offered 74k. This is given that I had 1.5 years in land use planning and a recent masters graduate in urban planning.
