Sometimes people make fun of b4 but still think we are big nerds with cpa especially in audit & tax. But now they give up cpa requirements for professionals? That seems a bit odd
It’s because the employees in EY EDGE aren’t performing accounting roles. They’re engineers and others with STEM backgrounds who support aspects of tax engagements, like assisting with R&D credits.
Really - wtf is this??? Optics only because no way any service says ok any state! Remotely! Ha! We are still regioned based which historically means if you move to a new region they will completely change your whole work experience/load with clients, etc.
This is only offered for select service lines, most of which perform non-tax technical functions. EDGE is not for the typical tax employee who preps returns. It’s more geared towards engineers who work on R&D credits, for example. It’s a way to keep non-accountants, who support tax-related aspects of the business, in the firm.
EY 7 — exactly what I said: “This is only offered for select service lines, MOST of which perform non-tax technical functions.” Yes, there are a few service lines that rolled into EDGE that have majority CPAs, but most do not. Did you join the EDGE all-hands last month? All expansion in EDGE planned for the upcoming year is engineers and others with STEM backgrounds. Your typical EY regional tax professional would not be able to just roll into EDGE. Nor should they want to.
Current EDGE participant here…been in EDGE for the last 3.5 years. The working remotely and from anywhere isn’t completely true as they are asking my team to come in 1 day a month. But everything else is true.
I would have loved this as a tax guy (not engineer) in QS/r&d credits etc. But I switched from tax to consulting and now I wish I didn't have to constantly sell stuff here 😭
I have applied for a job at Deloitte in London within ESG advisory, one of the requirements is to know about climate regulatory landscape. I don’t have experience in this area. Can anyone recommended any thing I can read to bring myself up to speed?
Less pay and advancement, just doing compliance, but certainly a good option for those who can live with those trade offs
Not just doing compliance work…if that was the case GDS would be EDGE
Sounds like acceleration centers to me, it's the blue-collarification of white collar work. Pad those Boomer pockets baybay
I thought most boomers were retired by now. There aren't many at EY.

I think I saw something once in a magazine called EY about edging.

Nice try, pretty sure that’s not a thing

This is literally what PwC offers for audit but you need a CPA license
The AC model?
Wtf is this?

Is this for their attempt at a version of remote H&R Block?

Join a firm that only has offices in HCOL and you get paid HCOL and live wherever you want. They charge HCOL rates to clients so they pay HCOL wages!
