For those making over 150k a year...

Besides your car and house.. what is the most expensive personal thing you've purchased? And provide price.

Let's motivate!

I’ve spent over 100k getting Mrs P1 pregnant. So yeah my son due later this year. By the time he’s an adult, assuming no health worries, he’ll have cost a small fortune. Plus we’re hoping to have another.

Though arguably as a single line item it was the wedding. Mrs P1 cost ~300k. Worth it.

In terms of actual stuff that’s not a car or house would have to be a watch at ~35k.

Like I said, to each their own. We have different mindsets.

I donated oxygen machines this year that was the most expensive thing I bought from personal budget although not for me

Other than that - got a personal massage day for 600…iPhone is installment so doesn’t count as big purchase

Wow, only one decent person here! Good on you!

I didn’t purchase her, but having a wife is incredibly expensive.

Male here. Also do not want to ever get married again. The legal/financial process was way too painful - far more than emotional.

Vacations by far. Upward of $30k a pop for a week of paradise.

My boxers and socks may have holes in them, but I love my house, cars, and vacations.

Did you actually buy it? Looks like you’re at the store. Nice watch, it has everything you need except for a month indicator.

$80K used (someone else paid $200K new, glad it wasn’t me).

So you don’t feel alone, I have 24 ft four winns. My in laws have a 42 ft carver. I’m very aware this is a depreciating asset but the joy it brings my family is worth it. My in laws plan on staying on their boat for an extended time during retirement

I counted it as buying because I find significant value in those organizations continued existence—despite the more ephemeral nature of the purchase. (Well, the occasional gala tickets they send your way as a “patron” can be nice… but that’s not why I do it.)

Used to play FGO but dropped it after I realized how money hungry they are ($$$ for a jpeg lmao). Spent prob $200 on that game. Honestly mostly SWGOH and a bit of Era of Chaos.

Any thoughts on covid impact to LA’s wild pricey market? My pessimistic viewpoint is that economy will be hit hard by end of year and trying to think through downstream impacts. We are sitting on our downpayment and we’re in the market for but now very hesitant to stretch our budgets in any way.

Does anyone here know anyone who has lived in any of the co-living spaces? How was your experience? How do you politely turn down a job offer or back out of interview at last step without burning bridges? After meeting the hiring manager and stakeholders I don’t think we’re a good fit. This job also requires relocation. I don’t want to take a job and uproot my life for something that isn’t the right fit. I’m currently unemployed so feeling a bit desperate but also don’t want to move for something that isn’t right. Thanks!
