I'm 6 weeks out from the layoffs...was a second year SC, post MBA. Updating resume/LinkedIn and relearning how to interview was a pain in the ace, but the job market is pretty active (Chicago area). At 'well established' companies I've used a combination of immediate network contacts and cold emails to alumni from my MBA/ugrad to get in the door with the hiring manager. Recruiters have been helpful for finding interesting 'non-traditional' oppys at smaller companies. I'd say the biggest thing is to figure out where you want to work first, and then try to figure out what opportunities at that company would fit your background, and who you know that can get you in front of the hiring manager. No offers yet, but really only started working at it actively a couple of weeks ago (took vacation, etc)...lots of second and third conversations upcoming...
