For those of you that made the jump out of public accounting, how many companies did you interview with? How did you handle turning down companies once you decided on an offer (possibly before finishing interviewing with all the companies)?
Did you work with a recruiter?

Interviewed with 3, got 2 offers a day apart accepted one and sent an email to the recruiter and hiring manager for the other one rejecting the offer. They both called me after that to see if there’s anything they could do and I spoke with them a bit further about my rationale (but basically just pegged it to the money differential even though there were other factors)

Yeah, I got lucky in that sense that they came so close to each other. I asked some questions about benefits and held off on responding to the first offer I got for a couple of days. I didn’t love the first offer either so that made it easier for me. If the offer you get first feels like it would be a great fit and you’re happy with the comp (and would be happy d accepting the position), I’d mention to the other company that you received an offer but are very interested in them and ask whether they may be able to expedite the process if there’s still a lot of steps left

Hi.. I applied for an opportunity in UBS which I saw in Linkedin around 10-12 days back and I did receive a kind of automated email for online assessment. I took the assessment but post that I didn't hear anything. I see that job in linkedin is still accepting applications.

What shall I conclude from this? Is my profile not shortlisted for interview or they usually took many applications and then decide who shall be called for interview?
What is the approach?

Interview help.

I finished my final round interview that was a part of 2 month long process. Didn't get the job. Any interview tips for next time that will get you an offer?

Midlevel Corp NYC big law. Received a mixed bag review during mid-year review. Even positive and negative. My reviews over the years have had peaks and valleys. Worried about consistency. Should I dip or at least start talking to recruiters? Didn’t get an action plan or anything but it was a “developmental message.” Besides obviously internalizing and correcting to get better- thoughts on whether I should start looking?

Hi Fishes

I gave google silicon interview all 4 rounds 3+ months back, from then they are saying they want to hire me but headcount approval is not yet received.
Last week they said, lets go for one more round and finalize immediately. That interview also went very good.
Post that they didn't call back itself, they have stopped responding also.

Has anybody faced this issue? This I feel completely unprofessional and not really expected from Google.

Thanks

Does anyone else feel uncomfortable when interviewees ask about diversity at your firm/office? I grew up in a very white area, and I don’t really notice/get bothered by lack of diversity. This recruitment cycle, a lot of non-white students asked if the lack of diversity at my office bothers me and asked why I think it’s so white. I feel like they expect me to have a very academic/astute response, but I just shrug and say I don’t notice it.

I ask as I'm looking for my next career move. However my friend has mentioned that a lot of them have frequent restructuring as they follow the zero-based budgeting methodology in a time when they are pretty mature.

Was wondering if any fishbowlers have insight or work in large FMCG, who could shed some light.
