For those of you that recently bought a house, how much of your take home pay goes to the house? I’m just trying to see if it makes sense to buy right now or it’s now the norm to push % up on the higher end in this market.

For me, it’s 45% including taxes and HOA

like

I bought early this year and it was 35%, but went a little higher than I wanted because I knew I had a good chance of a promotion. So now it is just over 25% take home. That includes P&I, all insurance, and taxes

like

35% of take home after maxing retirement accounts. That takes into account mortgage, taxes, and insurance. We don’t have an HOA. We bought last year. It feels comfortable, but I would not want to go higher.

like

~38%

28% ( includes PITI) and after putting 64% down here in NJ.

Wow this is interesting to see. My home purchase wasn’t recent…2015 but ours is 13%.

I’ve always gone with what I am comfortable with, rather than a formula. I try to calculate excess money at the end of the month rather than A percentage. I just realized I have no idea what the percentage of my take home goes to my home haha…maybe half?

Some people have different needs or wants or life situation. Eg, if you work from home, then you’re saving like $10k in daily expenses every year, so you can reasonably buy a much bigger house

Wanted to let everyone know security was amazing at LaGuardia today. Felt very safe when I entered the airport-@createme

With the last buyer, they were going inherit the furniture so this wasn’t an issue, but the new buyer does not want it so trying to have them allow me to sell it (for 2-3 days) after closing day so I’m not shit out of luck. The property is an airbnb, so if i sell everything and this new buyer walks, I’m screwed as i’ll have to pay $3400 a month.
