For those of you who have left BAH, at what point in the separation process do they advise you how much of your educational assistance you owe? Before or after you're final paycheck/ PTO payout?

Always wondered how they enforce this stuff. Would they actually sue you?

First and only step in outprocessing. They would not sue you, but I don't doubt they would sell your deny to a collections agency.

What do you mean first and only step in out-processing?

Just left. No exit interview. I got a FedEx slip to return my computer and I filled out a 5 minute survey online to confirm absence of gross ethical violations. However, Accounts Receivable contacted me to get my new email address, confirm I would pay tuition assistance back, and tell me about PTO pay and my final pay check. If the firm is concerned about turnover and retention, an exit interview would have been a good first step. But I got the impression that HR was so overwhelmed that they were collecting badges so fast that they could not sit down long enough to perform an exit interview or even ask "why? Why now!?"

Tuition assistance collection was immediate and before next paycheck after leaving. They all remind you again before sending to debt collection agency. The switch they made from paper to electronic now makes it super easy for them to know and remember how much you owe.

How much leeway do you have when negotiating start dates? I would like to start in Jan since I save most of my PTO for the holidays. If I start in Nov/Dec I either won’t be able to take it or will start in a hole. Plus new job offers WAY less PTO (VP thought it was 10 days to start vs my current 25, but am currently waiting for formal offer from HR).

New job wants me to start ASAP so I’d feel bad delaying start dat over a month if the solution is to wait until after vacation to give 2weeks notice
