For those of you who left the Midwest for a FAANG company like Apple… was the move to CA worth it? Have an opportunity and it’s just really difficult wrapping my head around the cost and standard of living, being far from friends and family, etc.

So what do we think about working at FAANG companies? I personally have stayed away from interviewing with them, as I have heard horror stories about work life balance.

Received an offer from Amazon but I'm concerned about negotiating hard and ending up with an offer that's on the higher end of the pay band when compared to the rest of the (future) team. My concern is during an economic downturn, it would be easier to let me go if the team needs to be downsized. This would be because I would have the least experience on the team & more expensive to retain from a cost perspective.
