I don't think anyone making $1M a year at 30 is hanging out in fishbowl

Very very few people are making $1m a year at 30-34, let alone in corporate roles which is largely the audience here...

I think that range by that age is either trust fund investment banking, or tech stock options. Possibly some real estate people in there too if they timed the market just right in 2009-2011

I find it hard to believe anyone is making that at that age in this industry

Is it critical to diversify into other things like real estate or owning businesses?

There is no way your making $1m with diversification, getting lucky in some sort of startup or property development etc.
maybe in law it would be possible. Or high stakes investment banking.

My spouse broke $1M last year, working in finance at 32. Was a bit of a boom year for the firm that isn’t going to repeat in the near future. Paid our fair share of taxes after donating a portion so that wasn’t the final take home amount. We paid off the mortgage which was nice, but now our money just goes to daycare. My takeaway after all this? I’m definitely not maximizing my earnings potential as a consultant, but then again I wouldn’t want to work with finance or tech bros all day.

Yes it is through my career (start up co-founder)

I’m on track to be an MDP by 32. $1M would be above average sales but isn’t crazy. Just want to offer the data point that it’s possible with our career path....

@P1 I was just trying to dimensionalize why there was variation 😇 Yes, BCG’s MDP comp structure is legendarily complex....

I work in the imaging department and my managers are making sure not to let me work in other modalities. How many times have you jumped ship? I’m considering another jump (will be my 3rd) for a 30% increase, but I’m hesitant that it will look bad on my resume with only 4 YOE.

What are your suggestions on accepting a job offer in the following scenario:
The job location is in Japan, Tokyo. Since the borders are closed for Indians, my work location is remote in India for now. Salary is paid as per Indian market.
When the borders are open, I need to relocate to Japan. I haven't been told about the salary that I would get when I relocate. HR here says once borders open and the Japan company's HR will discuss on the salary range suitable for the Japan market.

Can provide more details if needed, but if an employee is constantly coughing at work (small retail establishment), is it okay to ask them for a doctor's note stating they aren't contagious? They're claiming it's due to allergies, but I've gotten several confidential concerns from employees and customers alike due to the current enviornment.
