As someone who had a brother that started his own company - you just have to start. There are tons of people starting companies every day likely with less savings than yourself. Time is the most valuable asset that you don't have an unlimited amount of. Don't forget that. Pair that with appetite for risk that typically decreases with time... And it becomes more difficult. I personally have realized that I prefer to work for someone else. Less stress.

Probably capital and knowing exactly how I want to get started. That and I flip between brewery, tech company and record label almost daily. So I continue working saying I'm building up capital and getting experience.

I appreciate the sentiment and what you're getting at but personally I think it's smarter to at least get started on the project before you quit rather than dropping everything and then trying to start. Especially considering how expensive SF is.

To the KPMG user who keeps posting about billable rate and salary:

This is a bad idea because other firms will use that information to undercut KPMG.

Cross posting: Is it stressful being an Airbnb host? I have the option to rent out my place for about $3k a month (guaranteed on long term lease) or potentially airbnb it for about $8k a month (assuming 2/3 of a month capacity) not guaranteed. Wondering what I should go for with the least time/stress required to manage - assuming renting it out, but is it worth losing out on more than double every month?

SOS: i am struggling with work and reviewers have pointed it out to me as well. I already know this career is not for me, and I definitely don’t want to stay in tax. I’ve had a conversation about my performance with my mentor at work (including a partner) and my performance is not up to par. It’s the middle of busy season and I just can’t find myself to be motivated to improve either. I care about helping them get the work done but at the same time I’m not doing well. Advice needed please.

I have two job offers, 1.) Low to Mid size healthcare firm, privately held, Senior Financial Analyst role working on physician compensation, $90k base, no bonus, or 2.) Temp to hire postion with McKesson, 3 to 6 month contract, high probability of leading to a full-time role as a Financial Analyst, $41 an hour, high probability of earning a senior role within a year. Base range for a full-time offer should range between 90-100k, but definitely taking a risk.

Any thoughts?
