For those of you, who work for companies that want to return to in-person work from fall, are you planning to change jobs for a full-time/mostly remote option? I feel my company in financial services tech is thinking backwards, and that I need to move asap.

I’m actually looking to jump since my group is currently too remote for my comfort

like

No. I miss going to client site (whether local or travel). If we stay mostly remote/WFH, I’ll be looking to jump to a different of the Big 4.

like

And most industries have figured this out - years ago. I used to travel about 25%. I only do a handful of trips a year now. Clients don't want to pay for me to travel to them to walk the halls, and corporate is increasingly less enthusiastic about paying for it. The tech tools got even better over the past year, our clients' companies are going to hybrid models, too (just ask the analysts), so the ROI just isn't there.

Zero interest in a primarily remote job

like

Amen to that. I chose to move from industry to consulting because I didn’t want to WFH. (Well, other reasons like variety of work, career growth, etc as well… but my old company moving to WFH was the final nail in my industry coffin.)

I want to work in the office. I am more productive there plus it’s quite social. That being said, I prefer living downtown and my apartment is tiny.

Nothing has changed for me since I I have been working from home for last 20 plus years.

like

Yes, I am now looking for a fully remote position. The thought of going back to the office, even for a few days per week, is not what I want anymore. I can focus much better when I can control my environment, and both my mental and physical health are improved.

like

The main reason you’re going back to office is because the high fees need to be justified and if you don’t have a swanky office downtown filled with employees- that could potentially cut into the need for the higher fees. Right or wrong.

likeuplifting

Correct. And eventually they'll realize they don't need a desk for everyone at that fancy site. Maybe a desk for, oh, 20% of employees at a given time, plus swanky conference/meeting spaces for the clients who actually want to stop by. That's what my company decided.

Yes, I’m looking for remote opportunities so I can live closer to family which is not a big city

like

No. Go to work.

No. I absolutely hate working remote. Going back Thursday full time. Thank the lord

I prefer remote/hybrid but as a more senior person in client service I’m pretty sure remote is just not going to cut it in terms of high level client management. Maybe I’ll be wrong, and I do expect to be home more, but I just don’t see myself being as successful without being at least partially on site. If I could find an interesting, high paying role that seemed to have upward trajectory that was predominantly remote, I would take it over a more onsite/in office role all else being equal - but it rarely is.

I work in an industry vertical with a lot of clients who never went fully remote/are largely coming back, so unfortunately I don’t think this will be the case for me unless i change industries - but I do like this one

Hi everyone! I am new to Fishbowl - didn't even know this is a thing! I am looking for a Recruiter - fast paced, energetic, personable, strategic, forward thinking, thorough and good at building relationships. All things equal - would you take 150 base and 300-400+ OTE to work remote for a Series C tech firm out of NYC? Or 120 base and 275 OTE to work for a Series B out of Scottsdale? Good problem to have - I know. I am from the south and have never worked in NYC, wondering if I’ll regret it even if the $$$ is better.

Hey mamas, need some advice. What do you do for back-up childcare when your kid is sick? We recently put our baby in daycare and it seems like every week, she’s getting some kind of cold, rash… and we have to take her out. Don’t have family near so that’s not an option. I’m wfh for now but not sure how to still be productive and care for her.

Hello and Happy Friday! I’m looking to add a Contract Recruiter to my team of 7 for a $2B manufacturing company. Ideally, I’d love to find someone who has 3+ years recruiting for Engineers and/or IT roles but I’m also open to all experience. This position has the opportunity to go permanent in the future or has flexibility to remain as a contract role. Fully remote job. Typical req load between 16-20 salaried roles. $35/hr. Please message me if you are interested!

Fishes at MBB or even Big 4 consulting. How is the return-to-work / hybrid model being worked out at your firm? I stared not too long ago and I’m not huge fan of the virtual environment. I’ve found it to be longer hours, unproductive and needless zoom calls. Before the WFH forever zealots jump on me, but m not advocating to return back the office 100%. I’m just genuinely curious if this will continue to be the norm. Because if it is, it’s not for me.
