For those of you with kids, I am looking to travel with my wife and son (who’ll be 2.5 years old at the time of travel) to either Greece or Italy - any suggestions on which one to do? Not planning on doing both in one trip and not looking for suggestions to consider alternatives. Simply looking for advice on which one to do with a toddler this age from those that have experience traveling with kids. Leaning towards Italy but I doubt a 2.5 year old cares much about Roman history.
I have a 2 yr 2 month old at the moment - as long as they are rested, fed and not sick, mine loves pool activities, reading books and Disney (and also saying no 😂). I would suggest you figure out what you want to see while you are there first and decide based on that preference, then look for a kid friendly place (whether it is breakfast, pool or playground nearby/on site). The kid will not care and things will be memorable as long as the parent is giving them attention and they are well rested, fed and not sick. Routine is everything.... Also when we traveled to Europe with a16m old at the time, the young toddler did not adjust to the time zone; for two weeks someone was up with them in the middle of the European night for 3-4 hours. Needless to say, we will not be going there for a long time.
Thanks so much, super helpful perspective!
Map out some public playgrounds, sculpture gardens, beer gardens, etc. We planned a recent trip to Portugal around where our son could run around with some other kids his age in between other sightseeing. We found a cool outdoor brewery and went back several times :)
That’s awesome and will do!
kiddo won't remember anything, both visits will involve a lot of walking and are not super stroller friendly (think cobblestone streets etc.)
We have been avoiding Europe largely because it really is not something for kids to enjoy, it's more once they get older.
Also if you were to say London or Coppenhagen or such might be better visits than Italy and Greece for kids
Thanks, appreciate the candid advice.
I am not suggesting that Greece does not have an equally rich history. Just not sure what will be more memorable and fun for the kiddo at this age.
