In many ways it hasn’t. I still find myself cooking my own meals, searching around for coupons/deals, hesitant to make big purchases, etc. I try not to take things for granted because I know first hand how bad it can be at times.

Hugely. I’ve leaped up from where my parents struggled. Financially comfortable, own a 5 bed house in a good part of town, two mercedes on the driveway, kids are occupied through school and various activities they take part in When I compare that to where I came from: two bed council house, one beater of a car, debt collectors were always a thing - it grounds you. I don’t take it for granted and am very grateful that I’m fortunate enough to have landed in this position. Of course, seeing my parents go through life as they did gives you a certain amount of drive to succeed but still takes a good dose of luck to make it happen

It’s great. I live like I make a compliance salary (roommates salary) and bank most of my pay. It’s great to finally start to have a backstop. At the same time, I get more annoyed now given the average banking juniors spending habits/general preppy backgrounds.

Hi All- Need a suggestion. H1 maxing out in sept 2021. Got a job offer from small consulting firm (<200 people) and they are ready to file my GC from day1. About to resign in next couple of weeks once I receive my h1 approval. But Deloitte sent a notification that they are restarting Perm process. Currently with Deloitte - nothing has been filed. They have the JD and all the documents from my side but haven’t filed pwd yet. Stay or move out .?

My other half, who I have been with for nearly a decade, just doesn’t understand the level of demand and hours required to do my job. Since WFH, it seems that having seen what I go through during the day (call after call after call) and the fact that I’ve been putting more hours into working has put a strain on our relationship. I also happen to work on a very demanding piece of business which lately, has required me to be at the desk for hours on end, sometimes not being able to spend dinner...

Thoughts from NRIs / anyone based overseas on how to go about splitting investments between home country (citizen) and place of residence ? -Single - Male - 30y - from India and based in Singapore -No plans of returning to India anytime soon. Only needs are to have a safety stop, pay a mortgage and expenses for parents health - Aiming to settle down outside of India and pretty much starting from scratch here.
