How do I jump from B4 to MBB? I understand it’ll be hard First year with data engineering/science background
Currently in ERP implementation with hopes of moving to strategy work in the future. Doesn’t have to be at MBB, corporate roles would be fine. Is this feasible? I’m only 6 months in but the longer you’re there the harder it is to switch. How can I differentiate myself or is there no point. Been mainly doing PMO work and data visualization/dashboards
I’ve been in consulting for 5+ years and I’m starting at MBB soon. I need tips for an introvert looking to build a brand, network, and eventually get promoted. Really wanting to break out of my shell and make a good impression! McKinsey & Company Boston Consulting Group Bain & Company
What are the M&A practices like at MBB? Are they separated into different pillars, such as finance, Technology and HR? Or all functions work together? McKinsey & Company Bain & Company Boston Consulting Group
Any Big 4 fish who are not really pursuing MBB for exit ops... what are your exit goals?? And for what reasons? Trying to find options other than chasing MBB
LEK hours can be bad, but from what I’ve heard from my MBB buddies, they seem to have it just as bad if not worse. MBB fish - can you confirm? I’d say our undergrad hires are at 60-65 hours and our MBA hires are at ~63-68 hours. Trying to compare averages only McKinsey & Company Bain & Company Boston Consulting Group L.E.K. Consulting
So this might be a better place to post this and ask this question: Uncle D has announced explicitly that most people won’t get a pay raise & bonus this year except for those promoted and high performers. Amid this crisis, are companies including other big 3, MBB, FAANG, boutique consulting firms still giving high raises and issue stocks? Can you share the impact from your firm?
Most interesting post-MBA exit that you’ve seen? Something besides the usual MBB, PE/VC, FAANG, etc.
3 years in industry,3 years in consulting(strategy and operations). Been thinking about entering PE, but it seems impossible to break into given background (not mbb). Thoughts?
I do not have the resume for MBB, but want to do strategy work. What firms should I be targeting? I have been thinking Accenture Strat or Strategy& but have heard they do not hire laterally. Thoughts?
How achievable are good Chief of Staff exits after 3-5 YOE from an MBB/tier 2? Anyone have any experience making the move? Any advice/things to bear in mind?
Has anyone here (MBB or similar hours) ever attempted to do a masters part-time? I feel like it’s out of reach for me unless I stop working or switch jobs, but would love to hear other perspectives.
Any ladies here move laterally at the Manager level? Starting new manager role soon (MBB) and having some serious imposter syndrome. Any tips or advice appreciated.
What’s the right level and comp range for biz ops role in FAANG with 3 years at MBB, 2 years in PE, and top undergrad (if that matters?). Got two offers from F/G but tech levels and comp are new to me. Surprised comp is lower than newly minted unicorn (Series C) Offers at F/G ~$140k base, 10% bonus, $60-70k equity vesting 4 years (what level does this convert to?) Offer at unicorn: $160k cash, $250k options 4 year vesting (based on current valuation less strike price... but still paper money)
can you mix verb tenses in a resume bullet? initiated x strategy, improving efficiency by y% vs. initiated x strategy, which improved efficiency by y% i know it's common knowledge to keep all verb tenses the same, but the former example sounds cleaner to me? but i thought to ask, bc i'm looking at mbb roles rn and know they are notoriously nit-picky
Is it nonsensical for me to dream about joining FAANG only because I want aunties back home gossiping that Sharma ji’s daughter works for Facebook (or AANG)
Is there still a point of goin to MBA if I do not want to change the course of my career (currently doing consulting)?
If anybody is impacted by the KPMG layoffs today let me know if you want to discuss new opportunities
Senior IA offer: 100k salary, 65k RSUs (4 yr vest), 10% performance bonus in a VHCOL area. Is that decent?
How many months does your firm give you for maternity/paternity leave and how much do you get a month for childcare reimbursement?
Does EB1 guarantee faster green card processing? My wife’s has given her two options. File for GC now or go to a foreign country for a year and come back in managerial position so expedite GC process. Has anyone done this? I myself am in the usual eb2 boat with priority date 2016. Wondering if the opportunity she’s getting is genuine and a better option
I’ll be honest. I was fired. What can and can’t a prospective employer ask about why I’m not there anymore? (To both me and my old employer.)
My h1b transfer approved and I would be joining my new company on 1/18. Tomorrow is my termination date at my current employer. How will USCIS get to know that my last date with my current employer is tomorrow so that they would revoke my h1b? Is this my responsibility to inform or my current employer to revoke my current h1b?
Since raises are cancelled at many companies, are there ones giving any alternative rewards with this spring cycle? Extra PTO?
Just got laid-off at Arnold with 30 other people... but then again, what did we really have to work on!?
Does Deloitte do case interviews for experienced hires in the Consulting arm for SC level?
Last round of interview with a very senior partner. I’m switching practices to PI-what should I expect/prepare for? Going in as a senior.
Good books for engineering management interviews? Hi - i am an EM and I keep bombing the EM interviews. Typically don’t get any feedback. My resume is ok because I do get plenty of calls, but clearly i am doing something wrong somewhere. Anyone recommend any engineering management or just management interview book? I read quite a few Leadership books but honestly it seems just common sense stuff. Doesn’t help me identify whats wrong.
Would you nicely say something to the little kid continuously kicking your seat on a flight or keep quiet?
A job post says “opening for an entry-level, post clerkship”. I’m not post clerkship, nor did I do one. I’m just getting into my third year of law. Is it worth applying for, or are employers pretty set when it states something like this? I don’t want it to look stupid that I applied for it.
At this point all I care about is salary what would result in your opinion most money •CFP •CPA •prestigious MBA •CFA •CAIA •coding boot camp I’m at $85k now
Not an American so a little confused by health insurance here. If I got a plan that says it'll cover 80% of a procedure, but there's $1000 deductible, does the 80% coverage not kick in until (cont.)
Just got a faint line from a pregnancy test and wondering, at what point do people typically tell their boss / team?? This would be our first child.
