For those that have left the firm, did you tell your coach and HR you were leaving? What’s the protocol?

Tell me more about this because WHAT???

The relationship with my higher ups was so fragmented I just sent HR my resignation letter and did not talk to anyone in my dept while I completed my exit stuff that same day (went to a competitor firm).

I put in my 2 weeks notice on Tuesday. I set up three 30-minute calendar invites with: my Career Coach, my Relationship Leader, and my Talent Consultant (HR) for the same day in that order. I would imagine Deloitte has some sort of similar mentorship structure in place

You email your team’s partner and cc HR

When i was leaving Deloitte I did it in this order 1) coach 2) project leadership 3) submit resignation in TOD

I was hosting a pretty high level (1 or 2 level below c suite) meeting with a European client and they asked me “oh isn’t today a bank holiday you guys are working today?”.

And, while very obviously working I replied “well we aren’t a bank”. My manager was shocked for like 5 seconds and repeated what I said. Am I in trouble?

Monday Morning rumination: unsolicited advise is criticism.

Much to reflect on with this topic. Last week I was told in a 1:1 with a new contact that I was “too direct”. After some time chewing on the conversation I was struggling to place the emotions I was feeling. Turns out I was feeling guilty and shame for being me, for taking up space. Lesson of the week: unsolicited advice is a criticism of you, a micro aggression of who you are, and being “too much”. What would you do??

Had female lead say I’m “too direct” and can have a “tone” that can be off putting. Needs more “leadership presence.” when pressing for specifics - none could be shared other than some people (clients) might (at some pt) not like it. I believe it’s gender biased to give such broad personality feedback (Google the studies) when they said flat out my performance is top notch. Is this something anyone has experienced? They said I’m not a bully or unprofessional/too casual so it’s odd to me.

My client filed their K this week. We put in a ton of hours and as a thank you, the partners said to go out for a nice dinner with my wife...feel bad the others on the team weren't told the same

I’m feeling bad for one of my coworkers. They are my favorite person, the nicest and actually willing to work hard. But their craft is not up to the standards of my bosses, I try to help, guide and inspire but I can only do much. They complain to me about the leadership getting always too demanding with them but I kind of agree that the work could be better. I’m afraid they are going to lose their job soon and it breaks my heart.

I have been an EA for 7 years now. I just had my first job change as an EA in March working for the CEO at a larger company. I was told right off the bat that it will be challenging to get the CEO to utilize me; that is what intrigued me about the job! So fast forward now almost 4 months and I can count on 1 hand the number of times I’ve met with my CEO. I get maybe 3 emails from him a week at most and he is never in the office. What can I do to move this relationship forward?
