Hi there! I have 20 years experience in communications and am 53 years old. Started new job several months ago. I consulted for a large tech company for 3 years in various internal and external comms roles. My passion is internal/employee relations and I’m a strong writer. Even though I loved my previous team, I left for a perm role in internal that sounded exciting and paid more. It’s awful. Micromanaged, unorganized leadership, work badly edited. Am I stuck? McKinsey: what is internal perception/reputation of your different practices? For instance, corporate finance practice is the most sought after but yields ~80 hour weeks, M&S practice is the most collegial, etc.

Did my decision round with BCG and came out feeling meh. The interviewers pushed me a lot (made me brainstorm on where to start until I found the right place) and didn’t really work with me through the case (just let me go on even if my I was a 0 off in my calculations).

Is this normal? The experience was vastly different from my R1.

To what extent is MBB a "mini network" itself? They say it's easier to land exits when you have firm alum at your target company. If you're at one MBB, does that same logic apply (to a lesser extent) for people at the target company who were formerly at a different MBB than me?
