Imagine getting to the point your assistant is recording you and telling you that it’s fine to break policy

likesmart

Sounds like he was fairly fired.
But the assistant was a snake, she told him that he could use the card, and then reported him on that. Wow.

Point is amazon is awful with their travel policy. I got an offer for a global Sr TPM role and I asked them about international travel and their response was economy all the way😭

like

I bet Jeff Bezos doesn’t fly coach to Asia or Europe. Even frugal companies usually have a policy of business class for flights > 7 hours. Can’t believe Amazon doesn’t have that.

like

The travel was the excuse to fire him - definately some bigger / longer list of issues behind it.

At any reasonable company it would just be a "we'll take it out of your next lay check" type issue especially at the executive level.

like

Nah, Amazon is known to have very toxic culture.

like

Guy sounds like an entitled jerk who wasn’t fired for upgrading but instead for being a boorish jerk. They just used the upgrade situation to justify the firing. Easiest HR trick in the book... comb through the expenses and you’re bound to find some discrepancy.

How important is it to nab referrals to jobs that you are applying to? I know some people in tech that say it’s really important to land the first round, but is it the same in business? Also re: recruiter DMs/emails, do you have an advantage in the interview process if you are reached out to, or is it just something they do on a mass scale during hiring frenzies?

I want to know do I need to know frameworks like spring boot also ?
I am preparing for core java concepts and DSA as of now.

Will it suffice? Or do I need to learn more techs? If yes what all?
Can anyone guide me the path please 🙏.

Would appreciate your response.

How do you not care / stress way too much about your job? I am a mom and stressed out most workday evenings thinking about the work / interactions during the day. I have heard TEd talks about compartmentalizing job vs personal life , mindfulness etc , but I don’t change. I could literally leave my job & focus on kids alone & be fine as husband is in a executive position. Yet, it’s my own career focus & my self induced stress and pressure that takes a toll on me. What’s your advice for me?

Hello all
I am a biology graduate. I worked in cancer research and development for more than two years. Recently moved to Canada, and now I'm wanting to transition into clinical research.
Most jobs I find online ask for atleast 2 years clinical experience.
Does anyone have any tips on how to procure this experience? Should I invest in a course? Or should I volunteer at a CRO?
I recently got offered a clinical admin position, would this count as clinical exp?
Thanks

How do you judge when to leave a company for something better if you never burn out or hate where you are?
My specific situation: 4 years out of undergrad with Slalom, I like my job/coworkers and am making solid money but am starting to be qualified for interesting/lucrative exit ops. Not trying to grass-is-always-greener myself out of a good thing and I'm in no rush to leave, but how do I know when it's time to take advantage of other opportunities? Would love any advice from older folks!
