SAA1 all the above

Politics and the fact that the hourly breakdown of my pay is ridiculously low.

What exactly do you mean by politics in the context of PA?

Politics and lack of clarity what it takes to get in the partner pipeline, toxic culture, moving goal post, partners that don't acknowledge/recognize the work that managers are doing, extracurriculars that come at the expense of spending time with family, lack of business case (at least locally).

It’s PM function, hard to break in with consulting experience. This is my first job in a large corporate company, and I’m trying to gauge how long it normally takes to move from entry level to another internal position in the insurance industry. I have been applying internally for a year now and I am wondering if this is normal or if my company is just slow? I am a top performer, with great metrics, and I have some wonderful connections I’ve made who support me. I just can’t seem to move up. How long did it take you to move up? How many tries did it take?

Any advice? I'm an assistant supervisor in hospitality (4 YOE). Base $12/hr. It’s a tipped position, which makes it $17-$20/hr. No bonus. Minimal benefits. Not allowed to move up in my own department. We live and breathe excel. The job itself isn't stressful, but I feel like I'm wasting my time. I've considered switching industries. I'm good with computers & have 5 YOE in photography (also various adobe applications). I feel stuck and have no idea where to go from here.

Any RT brokers here willing to share their thoughts on their work environment/experience? What do you like? What do you not like? What’s better/worse about it than your previous role?

I don’t know whether I want to pursue Auditing or Tax. I’ve done 3 summer internships with Deloitte and am currently in a tax internship with a local boutique firm. I realized I hate doing individual returns and much rather work with financial statements. I’m not sure if this means Auditing would be a better fit for me because I enjoy analyzing and working within financials. I would honestly just pick the more financially rewarding career with better post-big 4 options. Any thoughts?

the main partner I work for hasn’t been giving me consistent enough work (or type I want) so while I work for him still on some deals, I’ve had to go and get other work from other partners. He doesn’t regularly check in on what I’m working on. He keeps volunteering me for projects without checking if I have capacity and if he expected to know everything I’m working on… he would’ve thought I was just doing nothing the last 2 months. I don’t know how to address this workload balancing with him!
