For those who are involved in all things Future of Work (e.g., AI, RPA, Machine Learning, AR etc.) How does your company (or you personally) address the underlying concern of clients / the general public that "the robots are going to take away all our jobs!" ? It's undeniable that FoW certainly involves reduction of certain jobs. What angle to you take?

Recently read “Designing for Modern Learning” and they discuss findings from a 2014 Deliotte study stating that the current information economy is shifting to a human economy. Where there most valuable employee traits will be creativity, passion, character, collaboration - basically the human traits that machines will never be able to achieve. So a way to addrsss this is encouraging the organization to shift their L&D approach - emphasis on reskill or upgrade to meet pace of innovation, ability to handle more ambiguous / complex tasks, and demonstrate collaboration across cultures. Again, just a book I read. Haven’t had to opportunity to try in real-life.

That being said - I am curious to hear people's thoughts on what this means for the population of people whose jobs WILL go away, and who don't necessarily have the aptitude/IQ to up-skill enough to succeed in the future environment. I don't mean this in a demeaning way AT ALL - but examples could be cashiers, warehouse workers, bus drivers, taxi drivers, janitors etc. (obviously not ALL of the people currently in those jobs, but at least some). I can easily see a future where these jobs will be accomplished by machines. What will those people do?

The focus should be on the positives and the possibilities. Sure, automation will reduce certain areas of functionality for humans, BUT, there are 2 major advantages: automation frees up time for other things (like self actualisation and making the workplace more human and more connected) and it also creates loads of new opportunities for jobs that possibly don’t even exist yet.

What kind of job opportunities would be created in your mind?

I believe focusing on reskilling and upskilling is key.

Currently an A3 in audit. My team communicated to me that they’re pushing for me to get mid-year promo (Jan 2022) but I’m also interested in leaving to another Big 4 for AAS as an S1. Current salary is $73.6k and am unsure of how much I should be going for to make the jump worth it. I know EY FAAS offered a friend $85k in my market but assuming I get mid year promo I’m not so sure the salary bump would be significant enough. How much room for negotiation is there with Big 4 experienced hires?

Have been struggling to get a normal pregnancy with the first one resulting in a D&C at 6 weeks last July and the second one in abnormal ultrasound at 12 weeks with doctor’s recommendation of D&E this Feb. Did anyone have a similar journey and how did you cope with it? Did you get your rainbow baby?

GoToMeeting, Zoom, WebEx, Skype, LoopUp, Teams.. So many platforms... Whats your favorite and why?

I have an informal chat with a (potential) hiring manager from the tech industry (non-tech PgM). They had a role open a few days ago but not anymore, however they were still interested in chatting with me. P.S. got this through cold calling on linkedin... Do you guys have any tips for my call tomorrow?

Altman Solon: what is typical comp / level for an experienced hire with 3 yoe? I’d like to understand pay and progression to see if I should engage with the recruiter. Thanks.

How lenient are you with billing? Just saw a presentation showing the average utilization was over 95% at my mid sized consultancy and I swear I know so many people that barely have work. Like literally during the staffing calls everyone says they’re only 50% billable and are looking to take on more work.

For those who have switched big 4 firms, what was your reason?

When is taking an unpaid internship acceptable?

Thoughts on part-time check-the-box MBA? I’’ 32, and am on track for promotion to SM. I can’t justify doing a part-time MBA at a top school and taking on all the debt. An MBA has always been a goal of mine, and some state schools provide an affordable price tag but I’m not sure if it’s worth it at all if it’s not a top 20 school.

Interviewing at MediaMonks LA for an ACD position. Thoughts? Gossip?

IPG folks: have any of you switched to a different agency within the network? Were you able to "bring" your benefits with you to the new agency? Things like 401(k) matching, vacation days, etc?

Hoping to seek everyone’s advice here! I recently moved in-house and have more free time to invest in myself. Which direction would you suggest that I look to for growth? - UX/UI - Coding - Data Analytics - SHRM - PMP - Others?

Another analyst (male indian) starting the same time as I is annoying the heck out of me. He never shares information, and always just repeats what I said in group messages, emails, zoom meetings (and prompts me to go first). He even stalks my calendar and compares the schedule overlap with our manager’s to figure out my meetings and schedule🙃. He also pushed me under the bus (he didn’t do a task even though i reminded him, yet he said I didn’t do it either together). What should I do

I’m all about that work from home life. However it is insulting and unprofessional when a colleague who is in the office blows off a scheduled meeting with you when you are virtual as they bumped into another colleague in the office. Anyone else noticing issues like this now that we are in this hybrid mode. How do you address it?

12 teams - no PPR (standard) w 6th pick overall. I got Green, Fournette, Cooks, C Edmonds and A Lazard on bench + Patriots D. Thoughts?

Spent a year in banking at an EB but had to go back to school because of H1B visa issues. About to start as a BA at McK in the fall. Any thoughts on my ability to recruit for summer 2022 PE Assoc roles? Or do I have to spend minimum 2 years in consulting before making the switch?

Best Marriott properties in Montreal? Any recs appreciated!

What are ways a student graduating with an associate degree in IT / cyber security can find internship or job opportunities?? It seems like everywhere requires a bachelor’s degree... hoping for advice to pass along to my brother, please!

How do you focus after putting in your 2 weeks? I’m way too excited and trying to wrap up the exit activities. I’m transitioning my internal work but I have no motivation to do bs client work
