For those who celebrate and are exchanging gifts, what do you want for Xmas this year? What are you getting your spouse/partner? I am out of ideas for us both.

A good coffee maker. Now that WFH is the norm, I need it...badly.

I’m getting my bf:
- a custom apron (the goal is to design it so we’ll see how that goes) since he loves cooking
- an Apple Pencil
- a good looking mail holder because he hates mail on the island 🙄 (tbh I bought it for the apartment and my mom said we’re too close to Christmas so I better just wrap it haha)
- maybe piano related stuff since he recently started learning

I would be so happy to get any of this stuff:
- a warm athletic looking puffer jacket so that I can go on more walks and not be miserably cold/ not hibernate like usual over winter
- one of those blow dryers with the brush attached to do my hair more while WFH because my hair stays wet all day and I feel a bit unattractive to my partner these days
- a matching cozy wfh set
- some eco-friendly household replacements (reusable paper towel replacements, reusable silicone cupcake wrappers)— generally just want to be more eco friendly and produce less waste because WFH has really increased our paper product usage 😕
- secondhand books (not Amazon🤞) about climate/ anti-racism/ Obama’s book because I want to be more informed when I chat with people/ argue with relatives 😅
- a donation to my local food bank in my name

I know not seasonally appropriate but I *might* be getting my partner a stand up paddle board.

I wanted to do this for my husband but wanted to spend under $300 since he will basically use it 2x a year. Great idea though!

I got him a nice LL bean waterproof jacket and merino wool shirt for running. Pre-covid, we would run at the gym when it rains/snows and when temps drop under 20. Now with covid, we’re running rain, snow, or cold! Hoping he gets me a North Face waterproof jacket I showed him for the same reason. :)

We are going to buy a new telephoto lens for our camera. We tend to just buy whatever pricey thing we both want and say that’s our shared gift. Normal years we do a trip also.

In past years we normally just get a trip together. Sigh.

I got my husband an oculus quest 2. We all need a little VR in our lives right now.

I don’t want any more crap to clutter my apartment (especially now that I’m stuck in said cluttered apartment)—only experiences. AirBnb hosts online virtual experiences from all over the world.

I’m getting my dude a new stash box and a whiskey decanter/glass set.

I got my partner:
- Rapsodo Mobile Launch Monitor (golf geek toy)
- Cast iron burger press
- iPad wedge cushion thing (holds it up while watching in bed)
- VC equivalent of a magic 8 ball (gag gift; it gives cliche answers for enterprise problems & he started a business this year)
- Stainless steel martini picks
- Coffee mug w an inside joke printed on

like

I got my partner:
- front and back lithium battery powered heated jacket (Gerbing). Normally used for motorcycling but I'm getting it for him for camping cuZ he's a huge baby about the cold.
- bidet attachment. I went with omigo over tushy.

Other things I purchased for the holidays before:
- boardgames (wingspan, gloomhaven, betrayal at house on the hill...)
- solid/heavy crystal whisky glasses. If you're going fancy I recommend Baccarat ($250+). A super affordable version is Norlan Glass ($50, and think there are some holiday sales going on rn so even cheaper).

I asked for a set of silk pijamas. I want to be both comfy and elegant around the house. I think it will also help me feel more attractive. I also want a humidifier. The heating the house is killing me...
I'm gonna gift him a very pricey backpack for a laptop. I was lucky cuz he told me what he wants and hates shopping/browsing so he left it to me.

for him: Sonos Move speaker for outside relaxing, slippers for WFH, robe because he never had one (!!), PJs because he asked, maybe a tool bench he asked for. for me: a bigger food processor because ours is tiny, a 2-sided lit mirror (I always love them at hotels when on work trips, but less of those these days), running shoes.

Work doesn't have to cater towards someone else's structure constantly. Find what works for you.

Being good at your job includes knowing how to maximize your efficiency, from knowing what times you are most productive, creative, responsive, and energetic.

Examples: Working remote vs. in office, scheduling important meetings in the morning vs. afternoon, creating more break times to walk around
