For those who changed careers from tax to something else, what did you pivot to?

Why is it so difficult to make the next career move within your OWN company. I have over 7 years of experience across multiple departments and yet an external company is more willing to give an interview to select roles than your own home company for the same role internally!!

Where is the loyalty in that !!??

advice on switching from Public accounting at a Big four to an industry staff accountant position after only a little more than a year ? I have no desire to become some kind of CFO or CAO. Bit of a niche topic: I’ve been in TS/SCI processing for a Science/Tech/Weapons analyst position with the CIA for 3 yrs since I finished grad school in chemistry, but CIA positions are sort of set it and forget it since they can take so long. I’ve since been focused on a Patent Attorney track and am with a firm that will support me taking the patent bar/law school. If I get through processing and go to the CIA for some time, do you think would I be accepted back into patent law later on?

Hello there! I currently work in billing at a medical office. I got my Bachelors in Psychology a few years ago but I couldn’t find a position that seemed like a good option for me that was well paying and fulfilling. I tried working as a tech at an Applied Behavior Analysis clinic but it wasn’t a good fit. I’m hesitant to try case management or social work because I worry I won’t like it but I want to use my degree in Psychology. Does anyone have any ideas for me?

How do you guys think of multi stage interview process? Personally i feel interviews up to two stages is ok, further than that is a waste of time.

I read a few stories like people not successful in getting the role after 5 to 7 stage of interviews, this is inclusive of coding / design challenges, flying over to another state for onsite interview etc.
