For those who do not have a home office, what does your WFH space look like? Just a laptop? One monitor, two monitors? Computer chair? Trying to figure out how much to invest and what I can get away with.

let me say the words “quiet mechanical keyboard” and save your relationship. the click clacking haunted my dreams but the quiet one was possibly the best $150 ive ever forced my partner to spend (I told him I’d be happy to pay it 3x but he got snippy)

i just sit on my couch

funny

i have a desk set up i just never use it unless i have court or a client meeting where i’m expected to have video on.

This depends entirely on how often you work from home, how large of a space you have and what your budget is. I have a standing desk, small treadmill to convert to a walking desk, dual monitors, a ring light and nice webcam, but I also permanently wfh so it was worth it to set up nicely.

like

Love it. Helps me focus longer oddly enough, wasn’t expecting that benefit.

like

I have 2 monitors and a laptop. My firm sent me all the equipment.

like

1 monitor and a laptop, regular office chair. I’m FT wfh but have managed fine with a minimal setup.

like

One ultra wide monitor, laptop stand for my laptop, a good key bound and mouse. I love having an ultra wide really recommend

like

I personally like two monitors more than an UW. Perhaps because I spent years working on two and I’ve grown accustomed to where everything “lives.” It’s also longer than one UW

like

One couch

funny

Standing desk, 3 monitors, and a writing desk. The three monitors are a game changer. Felt overwhelming at first, but it’s been nice to have.

I work at my dining table — laptop riser to put it at eye level, external keyboard and mouse — makes a big difference ergonomically.

Should i email my boss then follow up with a call? Or the other way around?

The "confrontation" is really difficult for me lol. I actually like my current boss and she's been helpful and made me feel like she looks out for me too. But the new opportunity is too good to pass up on (huge increase to pay. No concerns on the team since ive worked with those people in the past in a different company)

He also got an MBA, non drinker, non smoker, clean driving abstract and very polite. He gave out tons of cv in indeed job posters for the past 5 months, ends up becoming the filler candidate, took a huge toll in his mental health and we are going through some very rough patches. Can anyone please kindly help?

Joining a big firm next week as fully remote lateral and flying out to home office for orientation. The schedule has me in office until 4:15. I’ve already been told I won’t have any actual work. Depending on how many people are there and how it feels, I was planning to stay an hour extra but should I hang around the office until later? First time visiting this city so it’d be great to take in some sights too (although that’s not a priority of course).

I'm a third year plaintiff's employment law attorney and I'm looking to move to defense, preferably still in employment law. I received an offer from a midsize firm that primarily focuses on PI with little-to-no employment law practice, so I'll have a bit of a learning curve. Offer is $90k, billable hours of 2100. Is this reasonable? I'm dead-set on leaving my current job, and this would be a $20k pay increase - which makes me believe I'm leaning towards taking it for those reasons only.

I have a somewhat unsteady, gappy work history due to several health issues — serious ones — that have gotten in the way since I passed the bar. Negotiating a settlement. I’m at $10k, opposing counsel is at $20k. My client won’t go higher than $15k. OC has come down to 17.5k and says his client won’t budge from that. Do I offer 12.5k so we can hopefully meet in the middle at 15k? Is that how the settlement game is played? Seems dumb we can’t just say let’s meet in the middle now and be done with this. (I’m a first year, first time negotiating a settlement on my own and I don’t want to screw this up!)
