How do I ask my manager for a promotion?
Got an offer from Accenture as a L11 Business & Integration Architect Analyst in Chicago (post graduation w BSE degree) They offered me 80k & 10k signing bonus. Many are impressed with how good the benefits & PTO are, especially for entry level. Im a first gen college student & dont have people to ask if this is a “good” offer & how to negotiate.
Im really excited about this & have read praises about ACN but also stories of people leaving for big4 or being benched. Any insight is appreciated!
I made the switch and to be honest I was looking for better management. My boss, specially through COVID, went MIA. I felt that I was alone on projects and the few times he checked in was to just complain about my work.
I switched into a Gov. job which offered me the opportunity to be my own manager in a way. It also cut my hours from 50-60 to flat 40 hours.
The changes has helped but also brought up some more complicated issues in my life. Worked, and commuting, used to take so much time that I basically had no real outside friends or hobbies. It’s now allowed me to work on that. Idk if this is helpful for you?
I audits funds (PE funds, mutual fund, hedge funds)
Yes! Left as senior auditor for industry job with way less hours, better pay, and nicer coworkers. Makes a huge difference for mental health. It's out there for you 🤍
I'm working at a family office now. But I think what worked for me was being really honest in the interviewing process. I told the places I interviewed that I wanted to work hard and be engaged during work hours but that I was looking for balance and to be able to truly log off at the end of the day and weekends. I asked lots of questions about how busy they get and typical hours etc etc. I think some people are nervous to ask those questions but places that are more balanced and have good culture are excited and proud to tell you about their 40 hour work week lol. Good luck!

List out the top 5-10 major cons of your job and try to find a new job with less of those cons
Yes that’s what I’ve began with. I listed all the criteria’s I’m looking for in my next job, and I’m realizing it’s almost the opposite of my current job. My priorities definitely shifted.
I recall some of my former auditors went into big tech as strategy & operations or financial analysts, they pay better than banks nowadays.
