I create a category called work revolver, then when I get reimbursement I move that into the same category to offset
Why are your per diems getting reimbursed "months later"?
No i meant for my personal card! And budgeting in life generally
For my personal expenses* sorry long day haha
I do as others said above. I include T&E reimbursement, Corp card, and personal card spend all together in my budget. Income and expenses are grossed up, but I can net corporate card and reimbursement to see what was left on my personal card. It makes sense to me anyway. Too time consuming to seperate out and I'm really only looking at the net for the month.
In the middle. I do it monthly, and break out my various credit cards, rent, individual utilities, insurance. If my net at the end of the month isn't what I want it to be, I dig deeper and adjust for the following month
Wow, you can use your personal card for business expenses? For budgeting purposes, just don’t include those big meals.
If you include those work items and their subsequent reimbursement in your budget then they should net as long as they’re in the same period
YNAB is a great budgeting app - I’ve used it from college when I made a few hundred bucks a month to now making six figures.
do you just never use your Venmo balance so that it always pulls from your bank? Or is there a way to connect to Venmo transactions too? Makes me nervous to have alllll my info like that in one app for security reasons
When budgeting, I know which expenses per month not to include (e.g. group meals/trip expenses). I just exclude that amount.
How do you categorize the credit card charge for Target, for example, when you buy groceries + household needs that will cover you for who knows how long + alcohol (not a necessity) + clothes?
I used from break it out when I was a new hire and had more time but now I just leave it. When I look at my budget I just mentally allocate a portion of that Target category to grocery, clothing, household and it's good enough for me.
I do break out gifts though or any unique/large purchases if I remember.
