Hi fishes
I was supposed to have my Amazon Round 3 interview in the first week of May but the interviewer didn't join. My recruiter didn't reply for a few days and then rescheduled it.
Even in this rescheduled interview, my interviewer didn't join. This time my recruiter joined and said she'll reschedule my interview.
She still hasn't done that even after a follow up.
Is this common? Is this some kind of patience test?
I have no clue but I'm really frustrated at this point.

If you got a severance package, they are not going to deny you EDD. It will be fine. Just relax.
Chief
If you were laid off for performance reasons then you just state it was a layoff. I’ve never heard off a big company ever disputing a UI if it wasn’t for a policy / HR issue related firing.
Many states take into account the severance and won't allow you to file until the equivalent date is met. For example, if you receive 8 weeks severance, you aren't eligible for unemployment until 8 weeks after the termination date.
You can start a new job immediately, with no impact to severance. I know plenty of people who have done this, including me.
"For performance reasons" could just mean low utilization, which could mean lack of work available.
A number of employers try to dispute UI, just to see if those laid off will retract their claims. I know for a fact L.E.K. does this to people laid off and will retract their dispute during the hearing if the employee shows up.
Depending on the state, technically if you were fired for cause you are ineligible. But they would only find out if u tell them or if the company sends a response to your claim with that info with documentation to back it up. Many large employers dont protest unemployment claims like this, so try saying you were laid off or fired without any reason provided and see how it goes.
Accenture 3 - so, are you saying that you were terminated for performance? But, you still got the benefits. And, Severance is granted, but has not hit the bank?
Isn’t there a section on unemployment benefits that asks if you received severance and what is the amount & period?
- Did you not fill it?
- if so , did you get unemployment benefits right from the day after you got terminated?
- Do you think once you get the severance, they will pull back some of the money?
- How does severance and edd benefits work together?
Sorry - had too many questions because I just filled the for yesterday after a month being let go.
@OP - it’s really standard procedure and they’re trying to make sure you weren’t terminated for ‘misconduct’. I’m in California and I had my call with EDD today. They asked why I was terminated ‘for performance’. I was terminated because my utilization was below target by ~3% and that’s what I explained to the person in simpler terms that they could understand. I had excellent project reviews, but had the lowest utilization of all people at my level in my practice. He asked if I had been warned or been put on a PIP and I told him that I hadn’t - I’ve been DA for the prior 2 years and was fine at mid-year. After that, he said he said he was approving my unemployment.
Btw, all L7s and above can see everyone’s utilization in MySch so you can use that to judge where you stand against your peers - thats how I knew that I had the lowest utilization within my peers in my practice. There were only 8 people at my level in my practice.
Unfortunately, that’s what happens when the practice is forced to ‘trim the fat’. I just happened to be at the bottom in the wrong year.
What kind of severance does Accenture give ? Curious
2weeks pay/ year of service.
Accenture will not contest unemployment for a PA “improve performance - transition out” outcome.
