For those who got their coronavirus stimulus checks, what did you or plan to spend it on?

They probably spent it on an expensive treatment medical bill. I assume you meant $1200 trump buck checks. That is being saved for a down payment on a home.

Uhhh if I got coronavirus, I’d try not to spend it on anything? Lol

Was thinking about reaching out to my wedding venue (a craft brewery) to ask if we could put our checks toward our bill to help them in the current situation. Not sure if that’s dumb

Everyone putting it in savings is like that Jackbox game where you all die if one person takes the money pile.

like

except jokes on us the 1% already took all the money

The point of this stimulus check is to be used! Please don’t save it. Pay any outstanding debt you have or use it to buy stuff from local businesses.

like

hard to tell people to spend it when any of us could be jobless at any point in the coming months. I’m saving mine just in case the worst happens.

If you’re in a financially stable position, consider donating part or all of it to mutual aid efforts in your city or neighborhood. This will redistribute the money directly to those who need it most. While an additional cushion is always nice, many of us receiving the check have an existing rainy day fund that others lack.

like

Haha yes. Coronavirus stimulus check

Donated a third, put a third into my brokerage account, and put a third into my HYSA.

Donated half, spending the rest on food over time.

Grocery fund

Yoga mat and food at local restaurants. I only got a few hundred.

Got a new laptop!

Looking for neighborhood recs in Seattle? I’ll be there for about two months in early Fall. I enjoy access to light hiking and city walks - I’m aware I’ll likely have to drive out for a good weekend hike. I’ll have a road bike to zip around as well and am just looking for the best “Seattle experience” that I can reminisce when I get older. All that being said, COVID is still going to be around, so while I do want to be in the city, I don’t think the densest part of downtown would be ideal. Thx!

Now that the CDC says no masks needed indoors if vaccinated, is anybody concerned what that means for kids under 12? I’m assuming that the honor system isn’t entirely going to work (I.e., some unvaccinated people will go maskless). I don’t want my 5 and 7 year olds around unvaccinated unmasked strangers, but it’s also a bummer to stop taking them places. Not that I was taking them that many places, but the occasional grocery store, shoe store, etc. seems riskier now.
