I've only ever had one psychiatrist, and they were basically used solely a prescriber. The actual therapy was with a psychologist. It was free through the school I was attending, so I took what I could get. That being said, it was the best med regimen I'd experienced up to that point.
Fast forward to today - I have had multiple therapists, but I just go to my PCP for meds. This is cheaper by far, plus the med regimen I'm on now has literally changed my life - all for the better. Way better than what the psychiatrist gave me. I feel normal again.
Things I've tried and didn't like: Celexa, Prozac, Zoloft, Remeron, Xanax.
Things that helped: Wellbutrin (but did give me insomnia and heart flutters), Effexor, and Klonopin.
I was diagnosed with gad and depression by a psychiatrist. He prescribed lexapro which helped with gad but it was a little too extreme and I lost most of my emotions. I got off it.
I tried medical marijuana but it made my anxiety worse over time when I was sober. Maybe there’s a way to microdose but I was never told how to.

I’m on Lexapro too which helps my depression but I also feel I’ve lost my other emotions too. However my depression was too debilitating so I am choosing to stay on it for now.
