For those who have taken parental leave, do you uninstall your work chat app from your phone while you’re away? What about email? Do you delete the account from your email app?

Your first mistake was installing the chat app in the first place.

My phone has an option for multiple profiles, one of which is designated for work. I can turn off my work profile at anytime and will not receive email notifications, forwarded calls/voicemails, and automatically get logged out of chat. I never leave it on, only turn it on when I actually need to

like

I have to open the app for it to log me back in

I didn’t. I took 6 months leave while I was at PwC & just had my out of office on & logged out of the instant message app.

I left it all on, but moved it in to a folder in the back so I wasn’t tempted to look at anything. Do what you have to do to ignore it!

I have not opened up anything on my phone since starting my leave two months ago, but do get on my computer nearly every day to check my email...

I occasionally logged in to delete emails

I took paternity leave but kept everything and still answered emails and did work during my leave. Am I a bad dad?

You’re not I did as well. You need a break from your break - babies aren’t easy

I left it as well

I logged out of my chat app. And am monitoring my emails. I think that’s a good balance.

I have a work phone . Turn that shit off

I left it, but I just turned off notifications and it was fine. After getting my out of office a couple times people leave you alone

I find myself questioning basic politeness I’ve learned since a child. Wondering what everyone else thinks. I work with an associate. She’s great. When she does good work or something I’ve asked her to do, I, of course, say “thank you!” I don’t really expect a response. She always replies “you’re welcome!” Or some variation. And for some reason, that’s awkward. Is it just me? I know in normal manners, that is the right response. Why does it sit funny?

We were not trying to conceive. And I was drinking alcohol like twice a week.
Now I missed my period and pregnant. I am panicking a lot, not sure if I want a baby right now. Definitely i cant deal with pregnancy constantly knowing how much u drinking could have affected the fetus and if i could ever endure the consequences it would bring upon the baby
Help me understand if my baby will be fine or not.

I need to let it out but I’m so fucking proud of myself and I just realized how lucky I got and it took me until just now to see it. I started in the military and it only took 2 months for me to get out and fall into a bottomless hole of depression. My transition went from: $13 an hour part time, separation with the wife, new job at $18 an hour for physical labor, hit with disability diagnosis, then $20 an hour new office job, reconnecting with wife, having 2nd kid, nearly divorcing (cont.)

I'm a SWE from Italy. Love my country but salary and taxes here are outrageous. Got 2yrs experience in fullstack and data science, 2masters, a peer reviewed paper and outperform all my peers for 24k€ a year.
I'm thinkin about landing a remote SWE job (leetcoding and building a portfolio this summer).
Have you got some advice? Is it possible to work for US remotely without visa? What other countries pay well? Is it possible to land a 100k$+ with this kind of experience and working from Italy?

Hi Everyone,

I need your help, please. I have a student who simply does not stay on track unless an adult is monitoring him. His quizzes go unfinished and writing assignments are put aside to browse online.
I also would like to ask if there is a way to prevent him from browsing other websites online during instructional time?

I am open to suggestions on how to keep him on track during Math and Writing assignments. Any assistance with this would be helpful.

Thank you,

Jas

When I moved in-house a year ago as a BigLaw mid-level, I took a 45% pay cut, far more than I was comfortable with (although I was fine with a 20-30% cut). I took the job because it was a great role and I was focused on making the jump in house and developing the skills I wanted, which required me moving away from my firm practice area. Now that my year-end review is coming up, how do I ask my company for a significant pay raise (not just a 2-5% inflation-matching raise)?
