For those who left big law, what do you miss the most? Paycheck, prestige, support from assistant/paralegal?

Just the paycheck and literally nothing else.

Paycheck. Took a 60% pay cut to go into government. Payday is sad.

Prestige? Lol

likefunny

I missed:

* camaraderie with other associates
* resources/precedents (PLC/PLI)
* having legal colleagues instead of business colleagues.

* didn't miss timesheets, bullshittery, always being on call, shifty overly-demandind clients and busywork

like

Having other lawyers to get input from. That’s it. Prestige is the last on the list of things I’d ever miss.

like

Paycheck and my incredible, competent, responsive assistant that protected me from expense reports.

like

Prestige is BS. No one outside of biglaw knows the names of half the V50 firms. Even within law, many only know a handful of large firms. It literally does not matter.

I have a resume question!

I have 10 plus years of sales experience and 7 in an AE senior AE role however, when applying to positions that I know I am more than qualified for my resume is getting bot rejected before it even gets viewed. I am not sure why other than I do not have my b.a as I decided to pursue sales full time while in college and did not finish. This has not stopped me from getting interviews before , any ideas on how to get around the bots?

To all those in management, how do firms that haven’t instituted pay cuts/furloughs manage to do that? Is it because their clients are still paying the bills, because they are borrowing money, because partners just won’t see profit this coming year? Some combo?

Should I still wait for firm 2? I feel like I can’t stall anymore.. I feel like I really should give firm 1 a response this week 😮‍💨 but I don’t want to lose both offers

Anyone else sick of equity partners constantly telling their practice groups that the market is cooling off and everyone should step it up? I almost forwarded him the 5 recruiter/firm emails I received while on our weekly practice group call. Hilarious how firms are trying to reclaim the in control narrative with veiled threats.

Had someone lateral into our firm as a fifth year (soon to be sixth). They were kind of a retool and went from small law to the firm I’m at. They are still learning a lot of basic stuff, and I think it’s weird that the firm hired someone at that level as a retool. They sometimes ask me for help with stuff, but I’m just getting annoyed at this point. Can I just say “no” since they’re about to be a mid/senior associate who should know all of this?

the main partner I work for hasn’t been giving me consistent enough work (or type I want) so while I work for him still on some deals, I’ve had to go and get other work from other partners. He keeps volunteering me for projects without checking if I have capacity and if he expected to know everything I’m working on… he would’ve thought I was just doing nothing the last 2 months.
