For those who live in HCOL who have purchased a home within the past year or 2....is it normal to spend 40% of your monthly net take home on mortgage/insurance/property taxes? First time home buyer here and even mediocre 2K sq ft homes in bad school districts go for $1.3mil+ here ughhhhhh

Landed a job in NYC. As much as I want to live there and will be moving in with my partner I think the most financially savvy option is to live in Jersey city to save on the city tax. Both our salaries would definitely go up next year so moving to the city would be a huge possibility in 2022. Has anyone else started our in Jersey city first ? Is it worth it or should I just try to make it work in NYC ?

Any market considerations before refinancing my student loan with current rates? They’re giving me a .75-1% drop.

It’s worth it to refinance at this rate to save paying $1000 of interest albeit credit gets hurt. My only concern is missing out on inevitable lower rates forthcoming.
