For those who love consulting, how long did it take you to enjoy your work? Not enjoying the first few months as much as I thought I would

You have to determine if your source of unhappiness is due to the project you're on or consulting in general. I hated my first 6 months due to a very shorty project, but decided to push through and get a few projects in before deciding

It's not college anymore. The question really is do you not like the work, or work in general? If it's the work try it for a bit longer. If it's working then it's going to be a long row to hoe.

5 yrs 9 months and I think I'm beginning to enjoy it finally. Pushing through does help 😉

Omg- I would never give it that long d1. I figure 2 years max. I have only done it one year and also don't like it very much but will push through 1 more year to see if that changes. I feel like 2 years is fair.

My 9 months is inaccurate. It took 9 months to stop being a burden to the team; took about two years to "like" it.

Once you find a specialty area, which may take a bit both due to scheduling chance and you may have to try a few things before you find something you enjoy, but you should either find you enjoy it eventually or figure out that this isn't a career path for you. It took me about 18 months, but I enjoy the variety of projects, clients, people and places vs. going to the same office every day. I would suggest letting it play out a bit before making any big change unless you dislike what you're doing all the time.

There are lots of options in industry too. I would try a couple more projects and then decide.

About 9 months.

3years

Wow-A3 amazed that you gave it that long.

It took me leaving my last company

Couple of years. I had industry experience before and it took awhile for me to not be annoyed at consultants who had no idea how real world worked.

Agree with PWC1, it's all about finding a speciality. Best thing about consulting for college hires is you can figure out what you want to do while staying with the same company

I still hate it. 5 years and counting.

Why do it D2? Life is way too short!

@D2 - you can't support family with an alternate career path?

Honest question for those that are going to vote for Trump in Nov. Please enlighten me as to why? What specific policies has he accomplished in the last 3.5 years or intends to accomplish in the next 4 that makes you jump to vote for him? With the current mess with Covid, foreign relations, and racial tensions why is he the best person for the job?

Anti-Trump folks please dont respond. I would like to genuinely hear from those that think Trump is the best person for the job.
