My company paid all the fees but then I received a tax bill at ~24% of the total cost
@OP I looked into this more and the rule is you pay tax if you applied in the UK, but not if you applied abroad: https://www.att.org.uk/employers/welcome-employer-focus/meeting-cost-settled-status-visa-applications .
There’s an exception where companies can pay the tax for their employees but the above article didn’t offer more detail.
Essentially, paying tax on the visa app depends on if you applied in the UK and your company doesn’t pay it for you.
