Just curious, for others who transitioned in house from a firm, when did you fully realize/appreciate the benefits of your transition? I moved about six months ago and it’s taken some time to adjust, but I think I’m finally getting there. I have to laugh at how “busy” everyone claims to be all the time, clearly no where near law firm levels of busy. Just wondering what the light bulb moment was for others to think “yup, this is what I’d always been looking for.”

I buy at least one new pair every 2 years. Only because I think glasses are really stylish and I like having options.

I usually have at least two pairs with my current prescription. Pre Covid I’d have one pair at home, one at work, and one in my work/going out bag.
Now I have all three pairs to choose from since working from home! Part of the thrill of my day.
You should be changing your glasses with a new prescription once a year or 18 months. Even if your prescription doesn’t change your eye axis (as my eye doc explained it) can change. Which will make a big difference in your vision.

Every year. Except this year I'm skipping it since nobody sees me. 😭

In the last 16 years or so Ive had eyeglasses, I've only gotten total about 4 pairs. But I usually dont wear my glasses so that might have something to do with it. Mostly I've gotten eyeglasses if they acrually broke or becsuse I wanted to have an extra pair
If I dont have glasses im basically blind so I wear them everyday. I used to buy a pair every year when for the past few years but now I'm thinking they were a waste of money. Not to mention I cant easily find a pair that fits my face. I think I should be able to wear a pair for min 2 years right? At least that's how long the spectacle prescriptions lasts.
I have a smaller face and have a hard time buying glasses but I found a pair of frames I love about 4 years ago so I’ve just kept them and have been replacing the lenses every 1-2 years depending on how long they last. I get the anti reflective coating and sometimes it starts to wear off after a while.
I have has the same pair of Warby parkers for about 7 years. I keep wanting to replace them but I don’t feel like other if tried actually look better than the ones I have! I don’t wear them everyday though (I also wear contacts) so I don’t see it as as much as a fashion choice as if I would if I wore them more. I do like the idea of different pairs for different outfits!
Where does everyone go for their eye exams and glasses? Local or national chain or online for glasses, etc.?
For eye glasses I use all three with national brand as my last choice. I found those to be expensive. Usually I end up getting glasses where I got my eye exam. If there's nothing I like then I look around elsewhere and sometimes I can get the exact same glasses cheaper online then take it back to the place I got my prescription to change lenses. Rarely, I find something at costco and so I've gotten a pair or two from costco before.
I do every year if I remember because free glasses with insurance, why not have options?

I used to buy a new pair every couple years if my prescription didn’t change. By then they were pretty beat up. If your prescription is not changing I hight recommend lasik
I get an exam every couple of years. Not necessarily new glasses though. Even if your glasses still work, it's possible that your prescription has actually changed. If it's a slow progression, you won't necessarily notice your vision getting worse. It's good to get an exam periodically just to check.
What are your vision benefits like? Let’s say you have $200/year to use on vision provided by your insurance why not use it every year? Especially now that you can get prescription sunglasses.
I get every year cuz its heavily subsidized by my insurance

It used to be every few years but with warby Parker and similar companies out there I’ve done annually or even 1-2 pairs/year considering how cheap yet stylish they are.
I buy every other year. I buy glasses on first year then contacts the next year good for two years. If I really like the glasses and my prescription changes, i just get the lens changed at costco.
Get an annual eye exam. My last 2 pairs lasted 4 years. The change was minimal year over year and I got lazy when it came to trying to find something I liked.
My new routine is to get an eye exam in December and buy one pair with frame allowance and to spend the rest of my FSA. Then come January when frame allowance and FSA reset, I'll get the second pair (sunglasses). Can now refresh both pairs every 2 years or just replace lenses as needed.
I tend to buy a new pair once a year just to keep a variety and try new styles.
I buy glasses every couple of years. Also, as people get to their late 30s / early 40s, it’s important to get annual eye exams as your vision begins to change.
I buy two a year of prescription glasses/sunglasses....they are an accessory, and it is great to be able to switch them up with what I am wearing.
I buy a new pair every year, sometimes more than one. This year, I bought 5 new pairs even though my prescription didn’t change. Between Warby Parker and Zenni, you can find super affordable and stylish options!
