Not the strongest, the most average. If you manage to stay average and not burn out while either staying out of office politics or navigating them very well.
I think the best and brightest leave. You can be an investment banker. A private equity analyst. Fancy whatever. If you suck you’ll get chucked to a hole in the wall firm or an AP role. I that’s how the middle move up.

Pretty much agree with all. OP, I have always said that EY is a survivor culture, just last long enough. So strongest in a way, but ST1 is right, it also depends on your other options...
Nothing wrong with being average. Average at a B4 is still pretty impressive. Plus, some of those average staff and seniors end up being great sales people for the firm. They might not be detail oriented perfectionists, but they may great with people. Firm needs both.
