For those who’ve jumped from one big 4 to another, what did you say when asked ‘why are you looking to switch companies’?

I made a switch from federal in one big 4 to commercial at Accenture. I used the excuse the federal is too slow for me

Sometimes in big 4 it becomes very difficult to switch service line becoz of various bureaucratic reasons as well as partner not wanting to leave the person. In interview no one wants to talk bad as it reflects bad on both ends. I had been on this spot and I tried telling the truth. Like I wanted to switch service lines but it was not possible and so moved out. I don’t think this matters at all if the candidate is right.

It would be in the DC or NYC office, most likely DC (really NoVa).

Didn’t want to be staffed across the county anymore. Then they staffed me across the country

I told them that I left because I was not a good fit at my old team. They nice, kind, and fun people, but partying/socializing late at nights and office happy hours were mandatory and I have small children at home. They understand.

I’m doing this right now and I just say something along the lines of exploring other opportunties

Thank you all!

I’m tired of pivoting. I feel like my job has growth potential and I like my company. Also it seems like my company places a lot of emphasis on experience and I can only get that with time.

On the other hand I work on a small team and there is definitely room for improvement. I think the issue is the size of the team? Like, if there were 2-3 more people it wouldn’t be too bad.

I’m conflicted. Thoughts?

I’m 25 and have an array of experience within environmental science. I mostly enjoy being a field employee but recognize the pay is not always great. Any suggestions or recommendations would help, I’m open to anything!

I took 5.5 years to graduate college with a 2.3 gpa (b.a. economics) at b-grade university. Since then I learned to code Python, machine learning and I’ve been working in big 4 tech for 2 years. Do I have good chance of getting into a school like NYU for masters? Or do I have to aim lower?

Just transferred from IT Audit to Strategy and Transactions. Been a goal of mine for a while so I’m happy to see it play out. Not posting just to say I did it, but because I’ve been following this bowl for a while and see people get negative about being pigeon holed. There were tons of transferable skills that I was able to highlight that got a role that’s completely different, so I just don’t want anyone feeling discouraged if they’re hitting walls.

I studied computer science in school but I didn’t do well due to life coming in the way. I got poor grades but ultimately finished my degree without any internship experience.

After three months of job search, I started for 45K at a construction company as a Jr App Support. After a year I shifted in to QA for 65k and now after a year of QA, I have finally gotten a position as a software engineer for 78K base.

The imposter syndrome is finally gone!

Hang in there, hard work pays off.
