You took away our contribution awards, reduced bonuses, and now you're looking to take away the best medical plan in exchange for a shitty one. "Happy Easter kids"
How have you dealt with big medical bills? Spouse was recently hospitalized (fine now) and just got bills totaling ~$10k. We could sell off some investments etc. but I’m curious to hear how (cont.)
Any firms have policies on medical marijuana?
I’m realizing I have a lot of fear—mostly related to health stuff and death. Feel like people are getting sick left right and center (not talking about covid). I’ve never had anyone close to me become very sick or die—don’t know what I would do if this happened. I’m also overly concerned about my health and seem to be at the doctor every month to get something checked. Can anyone relate or provide suggestions on how to overcome something like this?
Help me predict when I’ll get the GC. Filed AOS, EAD, AP, medical together I-131, I-765, I-485 receipts in early Oct 2021 I-140 not yet approved Nebraska center ROW

Incredibly sick (fever, etc.) and starting a new engagement tomorrow. Requires I fly out to LA later on tonight. Feel like death. Do I contact someone on the team asking to fly out tomorrow?
If you’re sick and tired of extremist clowns pitching endless race/class/ideological vitriol, remember: elections matter, especially in non-Presidential and off-year cycles. Had Maya Wiley or one of the other leftists carried the NYC mayoral primary, this horrible policy would be going into effect next year.
Curious how people budget for unexpected expenses (e.g. property tax, one-off car maintenance, house repair, medical, etc.)? Just from the "discretionary" budget? Wondering how to treat expenses that aren't large enough to be worth pulling from savings but large enough that my discretionary budget would barely cover.
I FINALLY have a start date for IVF STIMs 11/5 and my company is requiring us to RTO on 11/1. I’ve expressed concerns and have asked to extend WFH for a period of time due to medical necessity (if I get sick, the cycle is cancelled and I’m out $$$$ and my sanity) but HR is asking me and my doctor to fill out forms that essentially say I’m unwilling to get the vaccine, which isn’t true. Does anyone have advice on how to handle? They’re saying this is the only form that’s applicable.
Let’s hear some stories of adversity and overcoming challenges. Socioeconomic, race, gender, disability etc. Work or personal. I think we all need some inspiration that we can overcome, no matter what.

Junior working with ex v5 senior in M&A. He consistently asks me to turn major deliverables at the worst hours, think 10 pm Friday/Sat/Sun night “tonight” or “by tomorrow morning” even when there is no closing date in sight. When I push back he says my behavior is unacceptable. The times when I have been able to actually meet his expectations and give him the deliverable for review, he will get back to me with comments at least a week later. Sick of these false deadlines. Help
Does it make sense to open a HSA if I'm going to leave the country in 3 years and don't fall sick often?
An teachers out there with a disability? Have you ever felt like your administrator is holding it against you? But not really coming out and saying it. How do you prove it? And what do all the laws really protect us from? We are still treated differently or unfairly.
So, super weird question: Others often consider me the "smartest person in the room" but I love being challenged and called out when I'm wrong. Is this weird? Is there a term to describe this (other than obnoxious)? Asking here because for some reason in our culture it's super taboo to talk about how smart we are and we're all supposed to pretend we're less intelligent than we are too avoid looking arrogant or making others feel inferior.
How is 72andSunny for non-white folks? I know they had a client-imposed diversity initiative following the General Mills win. Has it helped?
Ladies. I am looking for help. Currently, my SO and I have completely combined finances in one account. We have been married for 5 years and have a kid on the way. Since the past few months, I have realized that I want some autonomy with my money and want an amount or % of my salary in a separate private account. I want to suggest him to do the same. I am nervous to talk to him about this as I feel that he may not like the idea. He manages all of our finances currently including investments
I’m making about $100k a year currently in a MCOL city. I’m single with no kids, no debt, rent is $1k/mo and I’m maxing my 401k and IRA. Would I be a fool buying a $65-70k car? I’m a car guy so I already have a pretty cool car with only 40k on the clock, but have been considering upgrading. Thoughts?
Flying to Vancouver for work in a few weeks and looking for tips. I have scheduled my covid test and brining a home test to get back to NJ. I also downloaded the app. Other tips are greatly appreciated!

Are there any good movies or novels that show skill development - like follow through? Self-management? Money management? I read a lot of self help books so I know a lot of the theory, and books peppered with examples help, but I feel like most 1 paragraph examples don’t five justice to how hard it may be to change a behavior.

I do have a tech background (info sys/data science) with knowledge on basic programming languages which i am certain that i forgot most of them.. Will they still pick me up as a senior or would i have to go down as a staff level? Also curious about what they do & their compensation.
Could someone explain under what instances you may get a Medical RFE when filing your I-485? I’ve seen some people advicing to wait on doing the medical until you get an RFE notice from USCIS, but EY is filing both my I-140 and I-485 together and has requested the medical before filing both forms. I am a bit confused…
Does anyone have recommendations for thought leaders/influencers in the M&A space? Looking for blogs, books, YouTube videos? Not currently in the space, trying to learn more as I’m thinking about a pivot after a few years in consulting/startups
Just wanted to point out that the "I have a micromanaging manager" post below didn't call out the manager's gender, the way that people do when they're complaining about their female managers.
Any opinions on federal government vs in-house exit options? Salary is obviously important but I’m more concerned with WLB and WFH flexibility
