For those with experience interviewing candidates for in-house roles, what are your best, most illuminating interview questions? Particularly for more senior counsel positions and interviewing candidates who may not have prior in-house experience?

I always like to start with: What should I know (about you, your experience, etc.) that I don't get from reading your resume?

Being in-house is all about finding tolerable compromises that balance business/growth needs and risk. Provide them with a real, recent example of a complex problem without clear answers and ask them to talk it through with you. What questions do they ask, what do they want to understand about how you handle certain things, who within the org do they want to talk to, how are they naturally leaning in terms of risk tolerance?

Hi guys,
I'm lucky I landed C jobs at BCG and Bain in Doha. Please, I need your opinion on the below

1.BCG is T1 in the region while Bain doesn't seem so. Do you confirm? And the trend?

2.Interviews/negotiations went great with Bain vs BCG more acrimonious. Does my experience reflect structural cultural differences (pressure, up or out, cutthroat)?

3.What about transfers to the US-EU?

4. Type of cases

Your personal opinion: would you prioritize BCG T1 status over Bain "friendly culture"?

Hi All, two questions (1) does anyone know how much time does it take for a salesforce recruiter to covert a ‘verbal offer’ into an formal ‘offer letter’. (2)
Also, what are the kind of employment checks they run post generating the offer letter and how long does that process takes to complete? I presume after the reference checks, they issue an unconditional offer letter?

I'm currently an account manager in an agency. I've been there for 20 years (26 years experience total). My goal has always been to learn all I could and then transition into underwriting. Life happened, I got complacent and stayed on the agency side longer than I planned. I'm now looking to make the jump. I know that crossover doesn't happen often and there are limited underwriting positions available. Does anyone have any suggestions or words of advise? Key words that should be in my resume?

Looking for actionable tips to improve efficiency. I’m a senior associate doing primarily employment litigation. In particular, writing briefs, emails, and letters takes me forever, probably because it takes me a long time to form the right sentences. [Cont’d below]

Additional Posts in In-House Counsel

I am relatively new at my in-house position on a very small legal team and have realized that all of our organization’s policies/procedures are very poorly written. My boss, the GC, clearly drafted many of them (she is not a great writer, unfortunately). Has anyone here done a complete overhaul of P&Ps or does this seem like more of a gradual project, improving on policies ad hoc as they are updated? Also, any advice on suggesting edits/dealing with a boss who’s a bad writer?

I'm willing to make less coming out of school than I did before, but want to ultimately land as in-house counsel with a decent wlb and make $200k+. Im grateful. My job isn’t perfect, but I genuinely feel grateful to have landed in-house (after being partner at one regional firm my entire pro life before that), particularly when I read what others post about their day to day. I’ve never had nearly as much career satisfaction as I have since the switch, and I recognize how few quality in-house gigs there really are (even if we have some lunatics within our department (just as I did back in firm life)). That’s it. Just grateful.
