For those with law school loans who are on some kind of income based option, which do you think is better and why: Income Based Repayment (IBR) or Pay As You Earn (PAYE)? And did you ever switch from one to the other and why?

I actually can’t understand the difference between them. I’m on pay as you earn.

PAYE (not REPAYE) is generally the best as you only pay 10% of your discretionary income each year, and they don’t take into account your spouses income when determining your loan amount if you file separately. It’s also 20 years as opposed to some 25 year plans.

My finaid advisor said PAYE is the best way to go

I think I might have switched once? But I would just check the box that said pick the lowest payment during the recertification process.

Hi Fellow Fishies,

I am reaching out because I was recently contacted to interview for Cigna Provider Engagement Development Program. I wanted to see if I could connect with anyone on here that I can help give a breakdown of what this program entails, day-to-day, and WLB. Any tips on the interview and interview process for anyone working in this position? I would be truly grateful for any help or information that can be provided!

Idk how, but I got the offer. Still wondering if it’s real (it’s been 30mins since the phone call) because I thought I performed so poorly. I wouldn’t have passed myself. I hope the interviewers didn’t make a mistake (accidentally mixed up evals for another candidate, or the call was meant for another candidate w/ the same name). I do want to thank the Fishbowl community though. So many of you took the time to share your experiences and encourage me. I couldn’t have done this without you.

FTM here. My 18 months old started daycare and we are doing a transition plan where we will do 2 days for 2 - 3 hrs each in week1, 3-4 hrs each for 3 days in week2 and 4-5 hrs for 3 days in weeks3 and week4. He has always been home with either me, my husband or grandparents so this is his first time being outside home. During his first day he cried for 2 hrs straight. When I went to pick him up he was standing in the room and crying where one teacher was teaching numbers and the other .. contd.

My boss had a meeting with me 3pm Friday about some new tasks, no deadline given. I’m the only one staffed on this project.

Today, he suddenly comes back to me on a Monday expecting it to be done and ready to go since they’re the ones who are apparently “ready to send it off”.

My messenger also consistently pings ALL weekend. Nothing related to the project though. Ended up muting it to enjoy my time with my family.

(1/2)Has anyone ever had their contract end early with no warning? I was hired as an “agile social designer” for a big box retailer as a freelancer. The gig posting said it was a couple months (until the end of june) but when I interviewed they said they were actually gonna extend me until next February. Anyways now they’re saying the whole agile team may be eliminated and I didn’t get any new work assigned this week… I’m kind of freaking out bc I thought I’d at least have until next month.

Looking for some insight from Senior Associates at Husch. My friend just started there and absolutely loves it so far, and I’m considering trying to lateral over to their commercial RE section from a small-midsize RE boutique in TX. But, I’m trying to get more info from people who have been there longer (at least a year or so) w/r/t WLB, fully remote options, workload, expectations from partners, etc. Any feedback is appreciated!

I am a post bar graduate and currently seeking employment. I did not graduate from a top tier school, but I did graduate in the top third of my class as a dual-degree graduate. About a week ago, a partner at a big law firm connected with me on LinkedIn. He asked if I had a job lined up. I told him no and he responded that I should let him know if there is anything his firm or he can do to help me. We have a meeting with each other in two weeks. Is this a big law opportunity?

To experienced attorneys at large employers, has anyone tried starting a small side practice in a different area of law (wills & trusts, for example) and succeeded in building it out over time? Would like a separate law-related side hustle to potentially build into my full time work down the road. Thanks.
