Max allowed if it’s the fund. I assume if you work there, you have faith in the invesment mandate and fee free PE investing is too valuable to give up

Co-invest in the funds or in individual portfolio companies?

Funds for sure, it’s super advantageous to invest at zero fees.

Individual companies will always depend, there is pressure to co-invest in deals you are directly involved in. You have to believe that it’s going to outperform the fund though for some reason, which is basically betting on yourself and betting against your colleagues.

Personally I find the diversification across the fund more attractive.

Max if you believe in the firm and fund strategy and your / your team’s ability to execute.

I invest nearly every excess $ I earn in individual companies that I push for the fund to back. That’s after a bit of savings, mortgage and holidays. I have made 14 investments this way last year and invested broadly $150k. Up 2x on paper. Have to put your money where your mouth is 🙏🏼

2) max allowed, especially if you can lever up

We have a corporate banking partner provide it but similar setup

What would be your advice if someone asked: “I’m debating right now on buying a car or moving to the city close to a metro station so that I maybe won’t need to buy a car for awhile. I plan to buy a car at some point but I figured rent is so expensive that if I get a place close to a metro I won’t need to worry about it. But what I was going to ask you is do you think there’s a “good time” to sign a lease ? I work in Arlington but I’d like to be in DC. I’m looking for a 1br 1bath. “

Dollar-cost averaging is one of the easiest techniques to boost your returns without taking on extra risk, and it’s a great way to practice buy-and-hold investing. Dollar-cost averaging is even better for people who want to set up their investments and deal with them infrequently. It’s one of the most powerful and easy investment strategies and it’s great for individual investors.

Rental property managers in ALX

Hi! I am preparing to rent out my condo in Alexandria (off edsall road) in the spring. Anyone have any tips for first time landlords? I’m planning to work with a rental mgmt company that has 3 properties in my complex. They’ll charge 1 month rent for the marketing and 7.9% mgmt fee. I am moving to a lower COLA and don’t mind paying for the mgmt, but I haven’t found a good cash flow calculator to forecast taxes, etc. Any guidance would be appreciated! Thanks.
