For to a top 10 MBA program, how important are test scores if background/recs are really good?

you already work at BCG; i’m sure you’ll do fine if you put in the time studying. but i think it’s important to get above that 700.

Important to check the box with a 720+

Very, actually. Top MBA’s look for diversity in cohort profiles. So consultants are in a sense competing against other consultants, specifically, as well as the full applicant pool.

🙌

Classes are curated to have a certain mix of PE/IB, consulting, Brand / Product mgmt, non-profit/gov., military, foreign and donors.

You’ll be put in a pile with the other consultants and will compete against them for slots.

Given this there may be increased pressure on your score as the consulting group will - on balance - score higher than some other sets (not for profit, marketing, donors, government, etc.). If I were you I’d see 720 as a floor and aim even higher.

Haha it’s a bank shot strategy, going to spend the next year working on one of the presidential campaigns, or for a non-profit would certainly help, but if I were in OP’s shoes I’d study really hard and then apply to H/S/W/K/B Columbia and MIT. Any of those are great and OP will get into one depending on their score.

I would say 670 is minimum, but be ready to explain why the "low" mark. Have a good case on why you fell below your expectations.

Thanks all for the responses thus far. I probably should have clarified a little: I actually have quite an atypical background and am no longer at BCG (something totally different) so I imagine I wouldn’t be competing against other consultants applying directly from firms. Not sure if this helps or not?

In the past, lawyer wellness and lawyer discipline/character fitness for bar applicants have existed in silos. I’d like to finally form a bridge between lawyer disciple and lawyer wellness and focus on prevention. When we think of lawyer discipline, we automatically think of outrageous behavior like stealing money. Those are extreme. The common cases are too stressed out and forgetting deadlines or death of a loved one and not having time to call clients back. Cont’d

Hi all,

Looking for a little help on developing a website prototype to test (app too if possible). I need:

A backend that allows for volunteers to add their availability hours (something like Calendly integration), short bio, profile pic etc

A front end that requires users to sign up, and then lets them directly sign up with the volunteers.

I looked at Wix online booking system but you can only schedule staff by working hours. Built sites on WP before but lacking in time currently.
