For what reason would a startup want to stay private?

Senior BL (M&A) associate here ready to quit, even though I haven’t lined anything up yet. Just had enough of it all. Anything I should keep in mind? Fortunate to be in a very strong financial position, so not worried about that aspect. Current goal is to exit law for something business side (hope to achieve this mainly through my network). Would definitely be interested in hearing from (or about) someone who made a similar transition. TIA.

My friend is in his first job out of college at a tech company. He started 3 months ago and is in a very toxic environment as well as has to commute/be in the office everyday. His title is “Inside sales” and his pay is very low(no commission), he does tons of work and is expected to stay late (no overtime) on top of the 8:30-5:30.

I have a SM grade level with 13 years of experience as an IT Architect. I have joined Cognizant 3 years ago and my current salary is at 85k which is not that attractive to me. I recently applied for a position in one of McKinsey’s recently acquired firm for Senior Software Engineer (Team Lead).

The interview process is so damn easy - A medium level Hackerrank test, interview with company CTO and then behavioural round with a McKinsey Director and offer extended.

Wondering if this is a red flag.

Nervous for my annual review. Junior associate at a midsize ID firm. Most of my work is task based and I recently got a few of my own arb level cases (in the last month.) Between COVID and studying for a second bar admission as required by my firm, I did not meet my 2100 requirement for the year. Lots of non billable hours studying and business development, but firm doesn’t count it toward the minimum. Extremely burnt out and anxious. Any suggestions to make this review less awful?
