I’m 31 and getting my MBA right now. This is a great thread to read as I start the first week of my classes. What other pearls of wisdom can y’all share? Folks in my cohort are all scrambling around frantically printing documents and spending hours prepping for cases and assignments each day. The recruiting mayhem will begin soon. What should I focus on most? Networking, recruiting and then academics? What should be the order of priority?

Almost none. Good advice that i got going in ws to make a list of your goals and stick to them. For me the top one's were: get a consulting internship/job, pursue international opportunities, pursue a specific non profit program my school offered, make awesome friends / have a great time. Once you know your goals it makes it easier to prioritize between class / job networking / and social life. It also helps you focus on the extracurriculars you're really interested in (and definitely skip any you're not interested in, maximize your free time and enjoy yourself)

Not socializing enough. Going to MBA too early - should have been a little older to appreciate it.

Not realizing how regionally focused recruiting usually is. If you want to work in a region/city, get your MBA there.

Currently consultant at ACN Strategy,~3YOE, switched from a smaller consulting firm back in January. Got an offer from Uber for a Strategy&operations manager role, 20% pay bump. I am unsure about wether to accept: > I consider going for a MBA b4 exit. I am not sure wether I could get it partly financed from ACN > Comp and the role seem very attacrive, but the role is framed as "Individual contributor" (no subordinates) > I would be switching ACN after only 8 months
