Oh but the pay is more compared to other service lines. Not sure how much, as I'm not privy to other service line salaries, but I got a $6k pay bump when I switched.
Oh blah so not a good fit trying to lose the all over the place hours and travel
Depends on the office. Which location you looking at?
Charlotte
You'll be stuck doing a lot of bank work. Forensics is tough because they don't have a lot of outlook for jobs, so they stick you on advisory gigs to keep you busy. Eventually you'll get a cool assignment but those are few and far between. The hours and travel are all over the place. Some weeks you'll be struggling to scrape 10 chargeable hours together, the next week you could have 60. Overall I think it's actually pretty stressful. You'll rarely develop a deep expertise as the work spectrum is so varied (which can be good or bad). The higher up you make it, the more pressure there is to sell. Rarely do you get repeat clients so turning over fresh contacts can be grueling. Also it's extremely fierce. I can't tell you how many times we sold a job on empty promises of experience. "Sure we can do that!"--- go back to the office and start googling "how to..." But that's what you have to do to get the jobs.
Overall, it's better than audit, but not entirely different than Advisory in general (especially for Charlotte).
